Any 04/05 zx10 gripes / reliability issues?
How have these bikes been treating everyone?
Any gripes?

great!!!! only thing that went bad on mine was one hugger bolt fell out and the rear brake spring went missing. as far as handling it won't finish a turn. I'm still trying to get that taken care of.

I think that the ZX10 is the best bike that I have ever owned. I have over 12,000 miles on my 05 and the only thing that I had to fix was the tabs broke that hold the tailight in. The switch on the clutch lever was defective when I got the bike (could not start it in gear) but that could happen to any bike. My 04 didn't give me any problems either other than it ran into a deer and then it went off and got stolen. Overall a good bike.

Hmm, sounds like I need one.
Having a hard time dealing with the thought of an extra 100 lbs on the ZX14.
Getting older, and roads are not twisty around here.
Still heli bars on a pimped zx10r , really got me thinkin.
If the 14 arrives late, I will have already bought a 10r.

There were some early reports of grenading alternators, but very few. I've had trouble with my (04) clutch all along, the plates stick together. Not sure what's up with that. Something in the oil I suspect. It's better since in re-installed the clutch plates, they were in wrong from the factory. Otherwise the thing has been bulletproof. You need to do a regular loose bolt patrol though, many little bodywork bits like to get loose on this bike.

My ECU crapped out after 5 miles and my oil light comes on every time it rains but those are the only problems I have had.

Thin body work (fairing ) breaking initially when I was not careful with wheelies; warranty covered although took dealer long long time to get parts (12 months) ..never stopped me from riding..
Been the most fun bike ever.. I have no regrets it's been very reliable so far...7,300 miles..

i had brake issues...most woudl call them pety, and they were only prevalent on the track....I am jsut very picky about the brakes on my bikes.....going fast means nothing if you cant stop.
And ehre a few days ago the bike made a God awful sound while doign warm up laps on a trackday....I wheeled it in and first thougts were a spun bearing or a cam chain tensioner....took it to the dealer and as it turns out it was the alternator....it went tits up. It is covered under the warranty of the bike so no issues its in the shop right now awaiting parts. should have it back this weekend for the ASMA round 2. I hope....lol

1. The bike definitely likes to eat tires.
2. My oil pump loses its prime almost every time I change the oil if I let it drain more than 10 minutes. Scared the shit out of me the 1st time it happened because the low oil pressure light would NOT go out.
3. Not so sure about what was said earlier regarding the bike wheelying too easiliy. Mine still will not power wheelie in anything other than 1st gear and I weigh 180 lbs. In 2nd and 3rd it will come up if you crack open the throttle hard at 8,000 rpms, but i've never experienced any of the "this bike is insane I can't keep the front wheel on the ground" type of wheelying that others have described.

my 04 will power wheelie in 2nd with me on it...only a slip on and K&n filter on it, adn -1 in the front......on the track shifting on the shift light it will pull the tire off the ground in 4th and 5th, but only a few inches......I am 210 in gear give or take a few pounds.....ride it harder and turn the throttle farther.....
