Lowering the 06 zx10r
Has anyone been able to lower there 06 zx10r without removing the steering damper? It appears that where the damper sits, it will not allow the bike to be lowered in the front. Could someone please tell me different before I buy?
Thanks!!!

I just went out and eyeballed mine for ya'... it seems like you should have no problem lowering the front (if you're lowering it by raising the forks through the tripples that is) from the steering damper. However, the stanchions are tappered a few mm down from the bottom of the clip-ons... if you lowered it more than 5-8mm, you'd have to figure out a way to 'shim' the stanchion (so the clip-on's would have a proper diameter surface to clamp on to... otherwise they will move around... even with that one little bolt holding them to the damper bracket/upper tripple clamp). big lowering is possible... but would require some engineering.
Hope that helps any.

why lower the best bike in the land ?? Kawasaki spent millions sorting out the suspension and i see it all of the time here in FL where guys completly destroy the bikes by lowering them an inch or two then make excuses why they can trun the damn thing ... it a sad sad thing ... kind of like buying a porche carrera then dropping the front seat all the way to the back then holding yourself up because you cant see of the dash ... very sad and silly to see.

... drag racing? or really short legs... either of those reasons seem fair enough.
Though, I do agree with you... 'tis a sad thing to see supersport machines lowered for the sake of cosmetics. Rates right up there with uber-cheap tires on performance bikes too.
