From what I've read - 160 is pretty average.

Wonder where did the extra ponies come from? reports in the 160's is what I read also.. not that my 2004 ZX-10R is lacking power for me...

Cool for kawasaki... beat up on the competition.. far out...

cam timing usually dictates peak power.... I believe 107/104 is the magic number

Why? A guy on psychobike had another 06 on the dyno and it made 169hp...rght after they put a new gsxr 1000 on the dyno and didn't even hit 160. After the 06 zx10 was released, one of the members here hit 167hp.

Edit...the 06 1000rr has hit 155hp on the dyno, it shouldn't be hard to believe that the kawis can hit low 160s.

Go here and check http://psychobike.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?s=15e1389a982b62725188cada1b7c7486;act=ST;f=1;t=18994

Not unreasonable to consider the proclaimed hard hitting powerband of the 2004-05 has been tamed on the 06 with a heavier flywheel, little extra weight and seemingly higher hp - peak but still less thrust below like during midrange and brute delivery which I happen to like on the 04...

Would have to see a dynochart comparison of a 04-05 and a 06 ZX-10R to see how they compare.

This has nothing to do (in my book) with which is or who has the better bike; it is an interesting topic as both the 04 and 06 have the same displacement, manufacturer and aren't too far apart in design.

Interesting..Have fun guys..

There is a dyno posted in this forum somewhere...guy's name starts with a G but I can't remember what it was. Anyway, the 06 graph has more mid range and upper rpm power. Trust me, the brute delivery is still there. 06 zx10r dyno here:

here is an 04-05 zx10r stock dyno I found, 100% stock vs full system graph.

In the UK just about every bike mag has now dynoed a stock ZX10r and the lowest recorded figure so far is 162.9 and the highest was 167 all stcok straight from the crate jusr the way Mr Kawasaki intended.
As for brutish power being missing? This is rubbish. My '06 baby just tried to spit me off yesterday leaving a 6 foot black line down the road i live on and take my word for it this was totally unexpected at such a small throttle opening . I certainly didnt intend it as i had just washed her and was making sure the chain was dry before putting her in the garage so didnt have a helmet or gloves or anything on, when "WHAM" the back just spun up and got very sideways.
Just like the 04 bike it needs a bit of respect.

My 04 dyno'd at 155 with muzzy slip-on, pc and custom map. But it was a different dyno. I do know that NVH (the ones who did the dyno--M. Ledesma (AMA privateer) said that it was the highest output on that dyno (05 10R the weekend before was in the 57 range and a 05 gixxer was in the 160 range).

Have seen reports from " the editor " review post of 29 lbs more for the 06 . Thats worth about 5 hp .but I would not say that the 06 is slower or less powerful ; it's design was meant to be more user friendly is what I understand. friendlier power delivery for quicker track laps means less brutish.. read into it what you like..

I am impressed by the 06 horespower figures ; been curious where the new power came from came from; having a higher peak and still more midrange is very good.. no doubt

No envy or hate I'll keep my 04..

Well I had a 04 10r with all the mods that Ivan at Ivans peformance did. And yes at around 170 rwhp. But that cost me a shit load of money.. thin head gasket, full ti system., mapped, tre, block off plates, cam degreed, and ignition advancer.. I started with 144 rwhp.. On this dyno that I had used a 06 did the around 146 rwhp stock... I dunno

RRW took their shootout bikes to the Dynojet headquarters in NV. They got 155. Nice number for a stock bike. Gixxer came in @ 151, 147 for H and 146 for Y. The R1 LE was down two HP at the peak and as much as 8 elsewhere in the curve relative to the standard. Obviously there is a range, but I still suspect the 160+ stuff is optimistic measuring. At least Kaw didn't run ringers like in 04. I wonder how much negative feedback they got from that stunt.

Question:

Of all these modifications excluding full exaust sytsem (thats a known help I think) ; On which modifications was the money best spent ? Block off plates worth anything? degreed cams? what gains and settings intake /exhaust if you care to share. Ignition advancer help?

Greatly appreciate any info on power gains or lessons learned. Your ZX-10R must fly pretty good..

Thanks in advance!

Drowland did not get an extra 26 hp just with cam timing... but I hear ya supra5677.... I would like to see some numbers of hp improvement associated with every modification Drowland did including cam timing if I could...

It's all good information when you don't want to spend too much but want your money to count the most.....

Have fun!!

At Backwoods Grill Bike Night on Wednesday my 05 ZX10 with 12k Miles and a slip dynoed at 154.8 and 161.2 (power commander and velocity stacks and dyno tune coming over the next week) Mid 160s on the o4 and 05 is common. 160s stock on the 06 and 07 from what I hear is the norm with a good break in. With some engine tuning I would almost expect 170 from my 05.

P.S. my 05 is a salvage and over 12k miles so not the strongest of all ZX10s by any means.

Hey Guys....

I just bought the "G" bike that made the 165.7 h.p. / 85 ft. lbs.

It now has a FULL Akro Evo w/ Carbon Cans and a PC USB.

I just syncronized the TB's and ended up with 2 turns out on the Air correctors. TODAY it will go back to the same dyno (MJP at North Valley in Phoenix) for a full tune.

It will be very interesting what it will do with a full system and a proper tune.

I will post results..........
