Went down with my new 06
Guy in a pickup was stopped the side of the road chatting to a pedestrian, I moved over to overtake him; when I was a few feet away from him he pulled away and turned right in front of me...had nowhere to go but down...
I've been cursing myself cause the morning I forgot my gloves at home. I ALWAYS wear my gloves. F U Murphy, you SOB.
My Berik jacket did a fairly good job protecting the rest of my hide, and to my surprise my Jeep chino's actually saved more skin than I thought it would. My Arai RX-7 helmet did its job well, I'm sold on it for life, not even a headache.
My brand new 06 slid about 40 ft down the road, but it looks like its mostly cosmetic damage; waiting for the kawa agents to get back with the quote to repair. I think the wide fairing at the back and in the front on the new 06 saved the engine, frame and swingarm from scratches.
Guys, be safe and wear your gear...accidents will happen cause we are surrounded by idiots, but I made a decision to continue riding when I realized that I left my gloves at home instead of turning back to fetch them and now I resent myself for it...I'm a programmer, I'm pretty much fcuked until my hands heal.
Heed this warning / reminder folks; this posting was written one finger at a time whith crap oozing through bandages onto my keyboard...

Just wanted to say hey and that I am glad your okay, we have those same a@@holes here in Canada too. Went down in 1998 on a GSXR, dam lady in a mini van pulled right out in front of me. I feel for you and your hands, I was wearing some good gloves and my hands were still pretty beat up for a good week. Hope you get better soon !!

Wow Fasta, glad you're OK. Did the guy in the pick-up stop or notice you when you went down? You don't have to type now just blink once for yes and twice for no.

Thanks for the support guys.
My hands are almost completely healed and guess what...I HAVE A BRAND NEW BIKE IN MY GARAGE! Got it yesterday.
The damage to the old bike is not extensive enough for the insurance to write it off (approx $4800), but after speaking to my local Kawa dealership about options they came back and told me that if I put the equivalent of $105 down they will swap my damaged bike with a brand new one. It took me a whole 0.0001 seconds to make up my mind. SWEET!
I also go myself the new Edwards Legend Arai RX-7 (very sexy looking lid) to replace my old RX-7 (Black) and I replaced my black and silver Berik jacket with a yellow Berrik MotoGP jacket. This should boost my visibility with a few notches.
