ZX10R is a back marker
WSB yesterday the ZX10r is a serious back marker looks like unless they do some radical R&D its gonna be the Suzuki,Duc 999,Yamaha,Honda show. Lets hope they have better results in AMA. Maybe if Maladin doesn't race.......

I'm a big Kawasaki fan, but I gave up on them as far as racing goes. I just don't understand it..

i'm a little surprised that teh qualifying results http://www.bikeland.org/board/viewthread.php?FID=19&TID=21871 didn't lead to bette rrace results. given teh bike is brand new, i wouldnt put much stock in teh first results of the season anyway.

I don't think they will do much better until later in the season. Maybe kawi will get a few top 10 finishes and maybe even a top 5, but I doubt they'll be on the podium this year.
I bleed green, but I gave up on Kawi racing long ago...unless it's at a drag strip.

kawi's generally rule on the street and strip..Unless you put Eric Bostrom on it or something you'll be in the back of the pack.. Remember Bostrom use to beat the hell out of Mladan on the ZX7rr its rider first, bike second...

If that's the case the Haydens should do fine...
I mean DiSalvo is extremely fast on the R-1 and would normally qualify on the front row of the superbike grid if allowed to run there, but the Haydens gave him more than he could handle in Supersport last year, and would have had him pretty well covered in Superstock on the old 10R before Tommy fell off at Laguna while leading. The pass Roger made to beat him at Road Atlanta was a classic as well! If the new bike is in fact better than to old one, we might have a decent season...
I tend to bleed green, but I'm going to be a little nervous until we see what happens at Daytona!

When Kawasaki finally decide to run a "Factory Team" we'll see what the bike is capable of. Until then, don't expect much from the privateers. Sorry state of affairs, but that's the way it is in racing these days

They did a little better in the second WSBK race but still not good enough. They seem to have the problem that Yamaha had last year. They seem to fade as the race goes on. Yamaha decided that their chassis was too stiff last year. It was hard on the tires and their tires would go away before anyone else. Last years 10 handled like it was on rails but seemed down on HP. This year, they don't seem to have the handle on handling. But they are good off of the starting line. Maybe they have enough power and just need to develop the handling.

Based on Daytona so far, they need to develop allot!
I am a diehard fan of Kaws, but right now I'm just hoping anyone can take Mladin's plate from him even though it's quite clear it won't be a Kaw doing it...

From what I saw at Daytona, considering that this was Kawasaki's first AMA Superbike race, I would have to say that they have as good as chance as anyone else. But the Mladin/Suzuki combo is going to be really hard for anyone to dethrone.

Tough crowd, but for a new bike and factory team I'd say having two bikes in the top five for much of the race was pretty damn good (Daytona). Definitely looked like the Kaw's were abusing their tires, though the bike is developing daily and the riders are not dialed in like the zuke riders, who've had much more time to polish rider/bike synergy. More time and development should make the 10R's even more competitive. At least Kawi's found the balls to step up and give a full factory effort, not hiding behind a "privateer" effort anymore. Speaking of balls, Yamaha should find some.

Yamaha had theirs surgically removed, or they wouldn't be running in the only two classes that the AMA has that are devoid of factory teams! The rest of their tranformation to the fairer gender should be complete soon! What a shame... In the mean time I'll be rooting for Josh Hayes to take 'em out in Extreme.
As for the 10R, yes development combined with more rider oriented tracks might both bode well for team green (please, oh please), but my point was that by the time Rog won at Road Atlanta in the season's last race last year, I felt like the old chassis was capable of running with anyone in the open class. With that said, and with all the engineering that went into the new 10R, I just thought it would have been allot quicker than the old one.
