to 06 or not to 06 This question goes out to those of you that are lucky enough to already have your 06's. I just recently totalled out my 05 so i now have the option to stay 05 or go 06. I was just wondering which one did you guys like better the 06 or the other, and why.

I sat on an 06 today, while its nice, I will stick to my 04, its seating is morecomfortable for me. I didnt like the Ohlins damper on the 06 either, it doesnt offer enough adjustment for my liking, so i woudl have to replace it....the rear end of the 06 is too cluttered and need to be cleaned out....

The only problem i'm going to have with getting a 05 if i decide to go that way is that i can't get one for as cheap as i got mine. Reason being is that there aren't any left in the state. And i just love the front of the 04/05 they just look mean as if to say get the hell out of my way. Thanks for the input guys keep it comming.

I saw a black 06 on the road last week and I didn't care for the look at all. But that is subjective.
The reason I probably wont get an 06 is because it is not as wild a beast. I ride on twisty roads and love the fact that it wheelies out of corners and slides around. I am in it for the fun and not the best track times. Also it would be hard to give up what I consider to be the best looking sport bike ever.

Well put. I like my '04 for many of the same reasons. The new one is definetly a stout package though. I dyno'd another one today and it peaked at almost 160hp.

THe 06 without doubt will be the better Track Bike, But the 04/05 will be the most fun on the street between the two I would think. Ted covered all the bases I think.

Ya i am by no means a racer, just a guy who loves my sportbikes and my kawi's. For sure i think the 04/05 is the best looking sport bike to date. I guess i know which one i would like to get i just wish i didn't have to pay more for it the second time.

Jeeze man, I wish I could get one that cheap. I noticed on the other thread that you guys on the east coast can get your bikes alot cheaper. I live in emporia kansas so there is not alot of demand around here for sport bikes just harleys. The only place close where there is alot is Kansas City and they cost even more there. Every dealer I call tells me if i can get a 05 otd for 10200 to take it. So when you guys say that you are getting your 06 for 10700 otd it makes me really jealous.

Kerry I got that out of my 04 with your slip on and a K&N filter.....everythign else was stock, and I was using 93 octane pump gas....on tha tsame dyno a few minutes later my buddies 02 GSXR1k with Mig slip on and K&n filter with TRE made 143 HP.....
They will have to get more hp, and make some very significant improvements in handling for me to jump on the bandwagon.....If I were going to buy a new liter bike it woudl prolly be a R1.....

Cool. I just did a dyno shoot-out for Cycle News yesterday. No real big surprises quite honestly (but you'll have to wait until it's released for me to comment further... ). The track portion will surprise some people though....
Anyway, I think I'll keep my '04 and/or give it to my son (since he's been riding it way more than me anyway...). What new bike to get? Well, I am for the most part a "Kawboy" and the new 10 is very sweet. But man they all look real tasty. The new Honda is so user friendly it's not even funny. The R1 is the same old nice R1 ('04-06). The Suzuki is ok just boring to look at. The Ducati is very, very nice, but I'd be afraid to scratch it. The MV F4 is nice but $20k is out of the question. I have always wanted to build a turbo bike. So the ZX14 (or Busa) looks appealing from that aspect. What to do, what to do....

I am going to keeo my 10 but speaking of building a bike. I have a Cycle Factory flat track frame that I had an F11M motor in. Kosman wheels, Cerianis, Champion glass, etc. I was thinking of shoehorning a KLR650 in it and making just a hoot of a street bike. I even have a motor. But it would be s shitload of work because the motor is so tall. Maybe a 450 would fit much better. Flat trackers set up for the street are a blast. We would put knobbies on them because it is easy to get them sideways on the pavement.

Well, I've half hartedly tried to sell my 05, BUT I'm over it now. It started coming apart tonight for some serious Power & Suspension upgrades. I was going to bump up my 12R, But I won't give the 10 away for cheap so IT gets the nod. She's headed for some added power and some new legs to handle it all.

I went to the Kwak shop today and looked at the 06 and it is not near as bad looking as the pictures. It does look like they narrowed the faring and the bike lost some hand protection. Other than that it felt OK. The tach is larger and looks much clearer. Still not enough to make me buy one just yet. Like I said before, I like the beast that the 05 is.
