Bleeding Green Trivia

In the new sponser thread we got onto some trivia and bleeding green. So not to sidetreak that thread, I will start over here. If you truly bleed green you should know the history.

What two things in 1969 and 1970 did Kawasaki pioneer on their production bikes?

XL may be able to find the answer.

How about the CDI (capacitor discharge ignition). it was the system that raised the ignition levels....
and then how about KIPS, the Kawasaki Intergrated Powervalve System... this allowed the controll of the combustion at all levels of power...
or how about the 3 cylinder engine??

KIPS came later.
You got the 69 right CDI. What models was it first introduced in?
They may have been the first 3 cyl two stroke. Good one.
Also i believe Honda was the first to introduce the disk on a production bike. Don't know that much about Hondas. That is about the only brand I am not factory trained in.
I will give you guys a hint on the 1970 deal. It was on the G31M.

The smartest person is not only the person who knows all the answers, but also the person who knows where to find all the answers.

Well in 67 I was in junior high so that isn't too old.
So still, what models(note the s) did the first CDI come out in? And what did they pioneer in 1970?

Come on XL there muct be someone at Kwak who bleeds like a Vulcan.

You want???? lol

In 1969 I got my first job in a Kawasaki/Yamaha shop. Part of my job was to take an H1 (500 triple) and decimate any schmuck on a Harley, Triumph, Norton, or BSA that thought their bike was fast. I weighed about 135 and the craziest MF anyone had ever met. The shop was on US 40 downtown Reno and we would have races around the block and pitching bikes sideways on the highway to turn left was common practice. Of course wheelies were a must.

These kinds of threads are a hoot. Anyone else got tidbits we can quess at or answer?

Ted I was thinking the 69 was the only Bridged Port exhaust on the 500 triple line...

No not those two, I don't remember the H1 as having a bridged port exhaust. I have to think about that. But use that as another hint. Remember my hint it is was a feature on the G31M. Also a variation is used by Kawasaki today on the 12 and it is still rare. The 69 H1 had a steering damper as well as the A7.

OK OK, the G31M Centurion 100cc 2 stroke rotary valve was the first production bike to use a chrome cylinder liner. the precursor to the Nicosel(spelling) liners of the 12. That was in 1970, pretty cutting edge stuff at the time. It also had super thin rings.
