Checked out the 06 in person today
The new 10R is OK in person. The underseat deal still sux, But the front end looks GREAT! The exhaust tone is pretty good for stock as well. BUT!!!! The Tach is GREAT!!!!! Geeez I would nearly trade just for the damn Tach. If that thing will direct bolt on my 05 and is 500 or less I'll have one as soon as the parts become avalible.

No Sir. it's not.... My 05 has less than 1000 miles on it and I see NO reason to pitch another 2500 to 3000 to the dealer to trade up 1 year. That same money will make my 05 10R spank most anything on the road that's not turbo charged.

So you'll be ready for a change in '08 then. That's when the '06-'07 boys will be hating on the '08. lol

I don't hate the 06. And if I was racing the bike on the track I would have picked up the second one of the two there yesterday. For a street rider the change won't make sence. For a track racer it will be mandatory. As we can only ride about 7/10s on the road anyway the 05 will still exceed any possible situation you may find yourself faced with. Your personal skills will be the limiting factor to a far greater degree. I can still wip 8 out of 10 liter bikes ass with my 12R and that's in very tight shit like the GAP. I only purchased a 10R for those other two riders that I can't push hard enough to catch. Since we can't ride 100% on the streets because that would consist of lines that would cross lanes I needed a bike to level that field and the 10 was it. I still like my 01, 12R better than the 10 anyday. But in a lesser riders hands they would hate it. At the track it would suck complete ass. On the street however it kicks ass and takes a long list of names.

Actually my 02 12R was a blast on the one track day I did on it and it was far easier to leave big black streaks with at corner exits than on my 04 10R, but I'm about to sell the 12R just based on how much fun I have every time I ride the 10.
I agree wholeheartedly that on the street (even including the gap) the 06 will offer nothing that the 04 won't do for 99.99% of riders, but I also agree and will buy an 06 if my calendar will allow me a few more track days per year.
As a pure street play however, the more street friendly seating/bar/peg positioning, the more abrupt (so I keep reading) power delivery, the more willingly wheelied, lighter, and in my opinion better looking 04-05 model is still the ultimate bike!
But then again, you know what they say about opinions...

Hell I can do one better than that. Just for shits and giggles I told my buddy at the shop to run some numbers. I have an 05 with less than 1000 miles on it. They ask 4700 boot and my 05. I'm still laughing. I also explained that for 4700 I could put Ohlins forks, shock, Damper, AND 3mm overbore kit!!!!! That combo would stomp the guts out of most anything they build for the next several years. I'm still laughing...............
