traditional exhaust for the 06??

I enquire about this mainly for my fellow constituants on the OTHER site that like myself are finding it difficult to accept the cumbersome 06 exhaust / tail section style at this early stage and since K Bryant is not only a member here but a fair hand @ exhaust production i pose the question directly to him...........

What are the chances of a traditional side exit system (ala 04,5 zx10) being manufactured for the 06 zx10??? I understand producing a system is just the beginning and that perhaps a total reconfiguration of the ECU may be in order (or not) but my experience so far from our members (myself included) is the exhaust / tail section is FUGLY.

I agree that there will most certainly be an aftermarket solution fitting a traditional exhaust to an 06... of course the proof is in the HP #'s ... we'll have to wait and see who steps up to the plate first.

As KB has stated publically many times, he wont produce a system based on a pre-pro bike...

Methinks you'll have to wait a month or two before you see some offerings. I am sure that just like every other release we've had, there will be a wealth of info disecting the bike when members start to get their hands on them.

It'll be an interesting few months...

BD - The chances are better than good. Quite honestly I'm leaning towards a more "traditional" high mount and I'm glad you asked about it. Much will depend on the final tuned length according to dyno testing. Once we have good numbers from the lengths, diameters, merge collectors, muffler/core length, etc, then we'll do the final mounting/positioning for styling. It will stay up & tight, but I may mount the muffler in the more traditional "vertical" position.

Going "undertail" is not my first option, but we'll be looking at it . I've just personally never been a huge fan of these from a street bike standpoint. The weight it at the highest point on the bike and the heat problem is always an issue. Many times doing an undertail (Slip-On) adds so much tuned length, that you sacrifice hp/tq somewhere in the powerband. Of course there are dozens of ways to compensate for this if you are making a full system. This system will actually end up being what we call a "half-system". We plan on starting at the head pipe collector where the cats bolt-on which will allow us to incorporate a "merge-type" collector. Being a "half-system", we may be able to make changes to compensate for a longish type system.

I really try to keep an open mind when doing R&D for power and R&D for styling. And of course we may offer several options for those with different tastes. We actually have many systems already tacked together and simplly await our production bike for testing to qualify our theories.

I'll second that - the results and look of his 05 Gixx 1K pretty much speak for themselves.

KB

Thanks for the response which has also been posted within a thread on our site to give members something to ponder while they await their new toy AND basically get opinions and feedback regarding the topic.

That one is the supersecret whammy design that I don't talk about on the internet... At least not until I actually make it and test it.

I think a under carriage type exhaust would be the sickest, such like buell's...Or one similar to an RC51 type, which really shows whos the boss with the big twin pipes hanging out...
