watch out for honda

now before everyone starts throwing temper tandrums as if there was a klan and a black panther debate lets sit back and analize this current situation . all of the bikes ( the big four ) have changed over and have been revamped except suzuki . now kawasaki have shaved a little weight by redesigning and stream linning the bike but it's the same motor just reconfigured a little and with a heavier fly wheel for smoothness , no gain in horsepower (some say , but it's really not ) they just wanted to make it smoother through the revs and not so abrupt like the 04s and 05s . Yamaha also have done some revamping to there motor and intake also , and cycle world and sportrider said that if the R1 had just a little more hp and torque if would be a diffrent outcome . Well let me cut to the chase everybody is saying what there bike can do and what it has , but honda is laying in the cut and aint said a word , the only info honda has is it's and all new bike with a big punch , honda has been lagging behind for some years , now im a kaw man , but something tells me honda might be coming out the woods on our ass

They might try "to come out of the woods" but I am not holding my breath. They will probably do the same that they have been doing for last couple of years, make a new bike and then come up with excuses why it doesn't have the power that other bikes put out. Now this is coming from a former Honda fan. What I would like to see them do is come out with a street version of thier RC211V. That is an awsome bike. If they would make it it would have a V5 engine and produce at least 170+ RWHp. I have never heard an RC211V run but I imagine that they sound pretty good. That would be a nice ride but like I said, I am not holding my breath.

The newest "Fast Bikes" thought well of the new Blade, found it considerably improved, but it's up only 5 hp from last year, and it was much more than 5 hp behind. Not all new, incidentally, but more like say the difference between A and B model Twelves.

Much more than 5hp behind? My 04 RR made 148rwhp stock! Most 10's and G1K's made about 151 if they were lucky. The extended rpm limit and upped compression from Honda should help it out to be on par with the rest.

The R1 has been neutered with a softer chassis to make it more streetable and the 10r is heavier, not lighter. Honda will never build a competitive bike because they don't have to. I'm sure everyone knows a Honda freak. These jerks will buy a used dog turd if it says Honda on it.

Honda is a conservative company. They would much rather win on the racetrack and generate sales the save way than put a cutting edge bike on the street. They don't mind letting the other mfgs. battle it out, and like others have said people will buy their bikes no matter what.

It is a fact though that a good rider on a Blade and a good rider on a ZX10R riding the twisties fast..... that the Blade rider will come out on top.

Someone remind trackwak to take his meds.
There's no way (if the riders are equal) that a blade rider could make up
the HP he would be missing. The 10 steers just as good.

WHERE'S HIS MEDS???

It has been proven on road and track that the Blade is more manageable and planted than the ZX10R. It is an easier bike to ride fast. I can blitz my personal best time that I did on a ZX10R at Cadwell Park in the Uk using a 04 Fireblade, before anyone asks I race in the UK at club level so I'm putting something into it.

The 10 wants to spit me off when powering out of corners where the Blade gives you much more confidence to push harder. But the ZX10R is without doubt the bike that gives me a buzz when riding it on and off the track.

A bike that is easier to ride will make a more inexperienced rider go faster. But when the bar is raised to good riders, that twitchy, unruly beast of a bike becomes a huge asset.

If this is so TedG why do 04 & 05 ZX10R's never really cut it on the race track. In British Superbikes and Superstocks they are up there but very rarely get on the podium.

Dont get me wrong I'm not bad mouthing Kawasaki ZX10R's at all, I own a 05 ZX10R and I love it to pieces. I wouldnt want any other road bike other than a ZX10R possibly an 06 next March.

Kawasaki ZX-10R's don't seem to have done that bad in the National Superstock series'
http://www.msttiming.com/meeting.asp?source=bsb2005&event=54004
Plus not that many Honda's in it either.... not sure what that signifies
(Oops! - put wrong link up before)

BSB I think they need more works support like the Dukes & Hondas had. Money helps with the winning process. Hawk have been very consistent the last few years, just need that little extra & they will be there. The '06 bike is certainly potentially a significant improvement.

Remember trackwak that the ZX10R is a totally new machine in comparison to a GSXR 1000 which had many years for race teams to develop race parts etc for. I say give the 10R a coupla more years and besides it seem to me that Kawasaki has their mind set on being a contender again on the track!

Rubber Pants......... I totally agree that Kawasaki and the ZX10R will be getting race wins and more podiums within the next couple of years and that other manufacturers have had a lot more development time in racing. But at this moment in time my point was....................

The 10r is a fucking handful to ride fast, but it will make pace. Once you adjust your riding to the front end so it doesn't always feel like it wants to push, get used to the truckish steering, and remember to initiate turns last Tuesday, it goes like mad stink. I've set personal bests on it, and it's my beater street/wheelie bike.

Then why did every magazine list the 1000rr 2-3 seconds at minimum behind the zx10? Those were magazine testers, not pros...just average riders like everybody else.
