quote: They say it plain when they say they make gear for the streets, if you need track leathers then fair enough but here in the U.S I next to never see anyone wearing full leathers on the streets, you know how we wear stuff.. jeans, boots, gloves, helmet and jacket.
Well if you wear it all other than jeans. Someday you might know what it's like to be in a wheelchair or legless, but you'll still be ticking because you decided that your torso was the only thing you need to cherish and take care of to live a great life.
Those leather track pants=ride again
Those jeans=never again or a year later.

I have a friend tha thas a bike shop in Savannah GA, he sells alot of the Icon stuff out of there. I dont ever recall anyone complaining about quality of the items, or the prioces of them. My personal expierence with Icon isnt great, I have had 2 pair of Icon gloves, a set of the Ti Max full gloves, I bought them becauese they were warm on the street. the 2nd time I used them the cuff pulled off the main glove... the other pair of gloves I have are the Super Duty. I really liked these gloves they both ran smaller than most gloves in fit. The Super Duty gloves came a part in a 25 MPh lowside. Fortunatley they did protect my hands. If I had been going any faster it woudl have been ugly.
I like most of the Icon styling, its unique. And as far as it making us look like thugs or trouble makers.....our actions on the steet to more detriment to our images as motorcyclists than a few skulls put on a jacket ever could....How many times have ya seen a guy out on the street in a set of Joe rocket gear out riding wheelies? Or Dianese, or Spidi...or anyone manufacturer?
My opinion is worry less about what you look like, buy gear that works no matter what the manufacturer, and save the crazy antics for the race tracks and isolated parking lots....not the street....

I did take a trip to Cycle Gear and looked at the Blk MotorHead Jacket. It's about the only thing that they make that looks decent. I'm not big into stickers and Logos on my stuff and Icon also feels that Logos makes you look cool or something. NO it don't it only makes you look like a poser.

My son wears their helmet, jacket, gloves. Purchased them at CMS (Corona Motor Sports). It fits the younger generation crowd that he happens to ride with. They aren't into dragging knees or stunting. They just ride to places, hangout, and simply enjoy the motor cycling experience. I think the stuff looks cool, fits good, and seems to be good quality. Hey, I'm just thrilled that he is wearing good safe gear when he rides so Dad doesn't worry as much!
As far as their advertising campaign - yea, it leaves something to be desired..... But everyone has their own opinion and that's cool. I ride with a few of those guys from the ad program. Let me tell you, one guy (can't think of his name right now), is an unbelieveably fast and talented rider; both on the street & track. Even better, is the fact when the helmet comes off, he's an extremely nice guy to hang out with. "Image" isn't everything....

Whatever happened to Feildsheer? Did it change names to something else? MotoGP or Icon?
KB, if you and your son think the stuff has some virtue, I'll not slam them. I wasn't impressed with what I saw in the 2004 Chicago MC show, they have had plenty of time to get better quality stuff on the shelves.

Well, Eric it's been said before that stupid people will always find a way to kill themselves if you leave them alone long enough. Kinda like all the original Gansta's killed each other off these will follow suit.

Amen, my point exactly!!
I'm still really surprised that as riders we have developed this class system amongst ourselves. Harley riders hate sportbike (ricers as they would phrase it) riders, sportbike riders getting high and mighty about anyting that doesnt have a fairing or is below 600cc's, Track day goers (those few of you that are fortunate enough to be able to afford and frequent them) hating stunters. No-one waving at Sport-Tourers because of the glare of the windshield Cagers hating everyone on two wheels..
I remeber the days before I had a bike, I just wanted to own one and join the fraternity. Started out waving at everyone and feeling good until I started getting belittled by sportbikers who questioned my manhood because my bike was bone stock, Cruiser doodz didnt always wave back, way too many goddam posers on sportbikes that could go fast in a straight line and felt superior because they could do 140+ mph in a wifebeater. Race replica's bad-mouthin' Busa's coz their big and ugly (Never heard of a busa owner that hated his bike btw...DOES NOT EXIST!!!). U aint shit if u dont ride a GIXXER, or U aint shit if u dont ride a ZX-10. U aint shit if u dont ride a liter bike, U aint shit if u leave your reflectors and stock exhaust on...
C'mon y'all, give your brotha the peace sign when you see someone riding, stop the elitism and superiority complex which is bullshit anyhow.
How a 25-year old with no dependants thus perhaps more disposable income so is riding a GSX-1k w/ the Yosh pipe and a 600RR w/ the arrow exhaust and track setup and flossin AlpineStar full kit and goes to the track three times a year compared to that a 41-yr old man with a wife, mortgage, three kids and job stress coz he's stuck in a thankless middle-management job is less of man because he is riding a ZRX-1200 and wearing FieldSheer gear.
We've really got to stop this bickering, its a goddam waste of time. Nothing is wrong with Icon gear, if anything they are the only apparel manufacturers out there I see with ethnic people in their marketing material (Joe Rocket is starting with their Michael Jordan line). And myself being one of those "ethnic" people makes me feel like are very much aware of the obvious about the broad spectrum of riders out there male and female, Black, white and inbetween.
Until recently is was solid pictures of greying, thick mustached, purpose-grown bearded middle-aged portly ex-athletic type caucasian exclusively riding cruisers or 21 yr old 26" waist, skinny-bird chested 5'7" caucasian guys riding sportbikes (amazing when you consider that the bikes for the most part are Japanese bikes).
Most dudes I know are about 6' or so, got a bit of a gut, relatively large chested kinda burly-husky types and all love sportbikes. Icon jackets came out of the box with Jackets that fit us (size 54 and up or XXXL and up). ( I specify Jacket because their pants and some otther apparel does seem to made for the small to medium built customer base).
Many wear Cargo or Camo pants because the other riding gear is uncomfortably snug around the nuts and belly overhang (to put it frankly). I myself dont wear camo but I do always wear my SIDI's and A-star knee and shin protectors under my jeans...always!!
Bikers should show more solidarity with each other but sometime given a chance we'll turn on each other just like the general cager populace does to us already...it's a shame.
Can anyone give me change for my .02 cents?

BTW if she wants to try Kushitani boots, I would guess their smallest is pretty small. Their size chart (the one at http://www.kushitani.com/onshopnotax/newshop_a.htm, not the even-wronger one at some sites like Kneedraggers) is off by one US size. So where they say a Japanese size 25, which is their smallest, corresponds to US men's size 6.5 to 7 I would bet it actually corresponds to 5.5 to 6, so maybe that could be correct (or maybe not adequately small, dunno.)

I'm with rudebwoy. When I was 18 I got my first bike. I would have rode any style of bike. For me it's not about what kind of bike you ride, it's about the feeling you get when you're on two wheels. It just so happens that sport bikes fit my personality and the way I like to ride. I'm not gonna rag on some guy because he rides a junk 15 year old machine, it's not about what you ride but the experience. Nothing surrounding you except road and air cruzn' down the hiway or puttn' around town you just can't beat that feeling. When I started I rode with almost exclusivly harley's. Where I live us bikers all wave at eachother, see something u like turn around and go talk to the guy, no problem. Go 40 miles up the road and totally different story, u couldn't get a harley to wave at you if you're life depended on it. to each his own. For some people it's about being cool and others its about the experience and friend ship you get out of it. It's my opinion that riddn' IS like a brotherhood or fraterinty if you will. I like the kick ass custom choppers with all the crome and paint, bone stock sport bikes, dirt bikes, ect. ect. My choice for the icon was the cool styling(yea I said it so what). If you guys want to rag and poke fun of people for that, so what. If you think a jacket that has patches and is a different color makes you a poser, all I can say is, that's nice. If anything atleast people will notice me soomer now and watch out for me( as if the bright lime green bike wasen't enough). I still remember why I started to ride and will never forget.
P.S. I bought the icon neo-dayton hero green with a pair of black super-duty gloves

After reading these post (some that borders on racism) I'm disturbed. It just goes to show you that you cannot advertise from a minority perspective to the masses. Dark face equates to "ghetto", "gangster", "cheap", "thugs", etc. I bet if you put white faces in the ads with the same gear you would not get most of these negative comments. I could be wrong, but that's my feelings after reading some of the post. Some of my greatest times in life have been meeting other riders of all races, all kinds of rides, some great people that didn't mind that I was African-American, just that I rode. Based on the simple fact that you ride a sport bike, you are considered a thug by many. Don't judge a book by it's cover.
