Icon makes some good stuff...too bad it's become associated with thug riders thanks to their ad agency.

Anyway, I've had the motorhead jacket for years and love it.

They also make the thug stuff, to be advertised by that agency, as part of an overall marketing plan and position.

Buy quality stuff. The best you can afford, and maintain it.

Dude why Icon? I would rather wear NO GEAR as that bunch of Gangsta related stuff. Wearing that stuff would be kinda like hanging out in a Gay Bar and trying to convince everyone you're strait. Guilt by association I've looked at the quality and it's there, but the reputation of the thugs that wear it for the most part is something I don't need or want. Try some nice Alpinestars or Joe Rocket maybe. It's very nice quality stuff. And has a more positive image attached to it's name. Heaven knows we all need to help improve the whole image of motorcycles to the mass public. Maybe they'll stop trying to run over us

Hell NO!!!!!!! I have a Red and Black set of Alpinestars, A Black and Grey Set, And soon a Lime green set of something. Colors are good, but Skulls are for the Harley crowd anyway. The thing I hate to see is the whole Mad Max theme coming to pass. That's definately NOT my future. That movie was made to show what happens in a worse case situation and if you compare some of what we see today a lot of younger folks are useing it as a guideline on how to dress and act. Glad to say this isn't Thunderdome just yet.

What a shame there are so many negative comments. Hands up anyone who has put on the Motorhead jacket? Hands up if you find anything wrong or deficient about it? Much of their gear is very, very well made! I actually wear their body armor protective gear for my everyday street riding and I have nothing but praise for its protection and utility.

They say it plain when they say they make gear for the streets, if you need track leathers then fair enough but here in the U.S I next to never see anyone wearing full leathers on the streets, you know how we wear stuff.. jeans, boots, gloves, helmet and jacket.

Stop being 'apparel elitists' regarding brand names, if you advocate joe rocket or alpinestars you know you are handed your ass by dianese, Helimot, kushitani, spidi, etc. right?

Withing there roles and cost brackets they all do their jobs well; not too long ago Joe Rocket wasnt making product that was anything to write home about, be careful with that criticism that sounds to border on hate y'all. be fair, be resonable.

If you've had Icon gear that is crap, then okay, but if you have used it and like myself have pieces that are very nicely done stuff then come correct. I have gear from lots of vendors mostly teknic, alpinestars, triumph, spidi, and Icon and my Motorhead jacket is very well made and extremely hight quality and I have no problems whatever with it.

Stop hollerin' "ghetto", cos if you do I bet it's an indication that you've never been in one, cos guess what homie? They 'aint wearing Icon in the Ghetto either.

I agree, i am about to order myself the blacked out motorhead jacket. I have a pair of gloves from icon and they are better than any other pair i've owned, i think the black rubatone helmet is on the wish list as well. Also, i don't see how any of their marketing is at all "gangsta" related. Maybe not track wear but for those of us who want to look good while we ride on the streets, icon is definitly the way to go.

I wasn't impressed with dianese stuff either. Well over priced and not very comfortable. I also have a custom set of Vanson that's the cat's ass. To each his or her own, but as a slightly older generation at 42 nearly I personally don't like the direction I see our image going with all the stunting on the streets and negitive image attached with it. It seems Icon feeds into that image and crowd. In the past 20 years on the street our image has stayed about even up until the last 2 or 3 years. It's taken a very negitive decline because of the stunting and related offending aparel. I for one think it would be great to be able to roll down the street without being eyed HARD by every Cop I pass. You younger guys wouldn't know how that feels but trust me it's a lot more fun to ride that way. Go out and make yourself a Cop friend and get some inside scoop into what they target and why they target it. When you find out these answers you'll NOT relate yourself to those things. Icon gear just happens to be on that list because unfortunately for Icon they have been associated with too much Gangsta related happening. Sort a like the Red and Blue colors of LA and other big cities. To bad they probably make some well made gear. Maybe a little less BLING factor would do wonders for their image. Who knows?

THAT is why I will never buy icon........at least not until they start looking at females as riders instead of just a "sexy accessory" for the male riders......I mean, come on, pink leathers with fringes and guns painted on them! And lets not forget that the only pants they make for females are chaps (again with painted on guns and fringes) or "cat pants"......oh ya, that's what I want to wear when I'm riding, NOT....fuck, it's hard enough for a female to get taken seriously in this sport, and wearing pink leathers, will not help......every time I see someone wearing that outfit, it takes all of my self control not smack them up side the head......

And for the record, yes, I do wear full gear when I ride on the street.......there is too much crap on the roads and too many stupid cagers out there not too...........

I liked their old ads from a couple of years ago the best...like the one where the guy is sitting on a curb in all his gear, with his bike laying on it's side in the street. He's got that look that we all know that says "man...my bike sure is fucked up, but I'm still okay."

Their ads are stupid lately, the last ones I remember were a guy sitting on a busa with more chrome than paint, some girl next to a stretched glitter bike with a belt drive, then another one where a guy doesn't have a jacket or shirt on, but he does have on their vest...so his arms will be hamburger, but his chest and back will be saved. Great.

Their image started with functionality on the street, but slowly turned more fashion oriented. Think about it...are there any other companies that make a riding jacket with removable sleeves? Or stupid ass slogans like "streetlight nationals" embroidered on the back?

by the way...never said i bought her the chaps, and she don't ride, i do...the jacket is black not pink or blue. For the record i never said anything to disrespect anyone, just giving some guys a heads up on where they can find some cheaper prices. And i absolutly understand where you guys are coming from with the whole look thing now, i never knew icon gear was something cops looked out for.

There is an army of twats that drag race on the street. If Icon makes a buck selling them ass-less chaps and skull jackets that's called capitalism. If you want to bellyache about it that's called free speech. Ain't America great? Dainese makes several jackets with zip-off sleeves.

Oh no, sorry, I didn't mean a personal hit on you, I only used your quote as a lead in for my rant on the lack of respect that icon has for female riders, both in the thinking that females are only eye candy so sexy fashion is everything, to their lack of protection they offer for those of us that do ride.............there are a lot of female riders that boycott all of their products for that reason.......I'm surprised that their marketing research people haven't caught on to the fact that more and more females are getting their own rides and want some serious gear, it's a market is quickly growing, Tecknic and Joe Rocket are have caught on and are cashing is ten folds.....

but I guess they are making enough profits having their products are aimed for the young male riders, and all those little groupy "curb monkeys".....

Hey JJ my lady has a very nice 2 piece Alpine suit that looks great and fits perfect. The biggest problem we had for her was Boots. No one seems to make many boots for ladies. That's a real shame. Just lucky Sidi makes very small ones for men. And we both also ride in full gear on the street. It's a pain in the arse sometime but RASH is much worse.

Curb Monkeys..............Now that's funny shit

ya, I know what you mean about the boots, I had to "special" order mine in......and your right, I forgot to include Alpine in with the Technic and Joe Rocket, they all have a great line for the female rider.......
