If you are booking a motel in downtown Seattle, near the show and Pikes Market, and are driving, make sure there is parking. Not all downtown motels have parking. Most that do have parking, charge for it. But its still cheaper for us to drive up from the "other Vancouver" than take the train. Hope to meet up with everyone on Sat.

The hotel is fairly close to everything, and the staff was cordial and helpful. Poor housekeeping and fairly rundown facility made the rating go down.

We eat in the restaurant periodically and have always found the food to be very good, especially given the value. Diane, who is generally our waitress, is EXCELLENT making the experience always enjoyable. She even remembers to bring my Diet Pepsi and I never have to ask, it just appears! Now that's service.

We arrived at the motel. The desk clerk was friendly. We went to our room and it was a smoking room. We had requested non. They moved us to another room. They again moved us. This room smelled, was dirty. The sheets and towels were clean. I lined the bathroom floor with them The floor was quite stained. The carpet was worn and stained. The pillows reaked of grass and bad breath. Out our back window were adult shops. The motel was noisy and we did not sleep all night.

You're going to have a hard time finding anything affordable and cool here. One I will highly recommend is the Ace Hotel, very chic and not terribly expensive. Original art on the walls in the rooms. Way better than staying at he 6th Ave Inn or a place like that.
Here's some info on the Ace:
http://www.seattle.com/acehotel/
It's probably 2 miles from the show, in a stylish part of downtown called Belltown. Probably have to park in a lot nearby.
I also recommended the new Max Hotel, the Paramount, and the Hyatt Elliot to Doug because he was asking for hotels near the Convention Center, but the show is not at the Convention Center, it's at the Qwest Exhibition Center. That's down at the south end of Pioneer Square, and I can't think of ANY lodging right near by. The Alexis and the W are both semi-close, and both very very nice if you have plenty of money.
Hotels are right up there with houses on the spendy scale here in seattle.

...so true....I'll work on it today....promise....I am wrong and you were wronged....shit has happened that didn't concern you and this great site and it took all of my attention and intentions...btw, sorry about not being able to hook up when you were down here...besides, its not like I have a really flexable jet-settin' schedule to do as I please...I really wanted to hook up, but logistics and the realities of my job made it impossible...sorry you had to carry that extra poundage with you...I'll pay for the Ts that I ordered and you can give it away as a prize for something...make it a contest of sorts...like whomever drops their brand new 14 first (without getting hurt, or course) gets a brand-spankin' new bikeland.org T-shirt courtesy of the worm~hole...really...seriously....PM, IM, or email the total/address...don't give anything away until you have my payment...thanks!
