First 10R oil change in 11 mos.
Yeah, I hadn't been putting a lot of miles on the bike. I've pretty much made up my mind to put on the track sometime next year, but I'm in no hurry since I have the 636, and I plan on racing HWSS/SB (B supersport) and chasing a championship with it. The 10R will be the occaisional ULSS (A Supersport) and Formula Amateur (GTU, Unlimited GP) tool. I think in 2007, the 10R will be my sprint-race bike and the 636 my endurance bike (I will be trying my first 4hr endurance race 11 Nov).
Anyway, I have this relatively new set of Pilot Powers on it that I threw on there to go raid SoCal with XL last July with. So, I figure I have to burn them up a little, right? Well, I've put 500 miles on the bike in two weekends, and it crossed my magic 3k mile mark for oil changes.
And I forgot what a cast-iron bitch it is to change the oil in this bike. I've been spoiled by the 6R and fiberglass lowers, and no heat exchanger in the way... Don't get me wrong, it took maybe 15 min to change the oil, but I'd forgotten (until I looked at it again) about things like tinfoil ramps under the filter.
I'm going to have to get used to it when she becomes a trackbike and I change the oil after every race weekend.
