Jardine slip-ons for zx10r?

Any input on the jardine RT-1 aluminum race slip-ons? I know they are great for honda but thought it might be good for zx10's also. Sounds? Power? anyone here have any maps for the jardine on the zx10r? Thanks guys.

I have a Carbon Fiber one on my 10R, have one of the very first ones made.

It makes great sound, but to be honest, I can't tell about a power gain, I've never dynoed this bike.

I have it straight from the guy who manufactured them (former VP over at Jardine) that the 10R with this slip-on doesn't need to be remapped, the A/F ratio is correct and there isn't any real reason to put a PC on it with this slip-on.

I gotta track that guy down (he left Jardine a while back) and see if he can get me a slipon for my '05 636. I hear he's been doing good things with his new company.

I too have the CF RT-1. Love it so much, haven't had a real good reason (or the money) to get one from that "oh what's his name" guy at Area P. All the same, if I was shopping for a system today, I guess I'd have to get an Aera P. If for any reason, just because I could "custom order" it to my own specs. Something that's kinda hard to do with most other brands.

Also, Anyone describe to me what the jardine sounds like? Loud compared to? Deepness? Throaty? V-twin-like?

Louder than stock. Deep. Throaty. Not at all V-twin like, and the sound is a smooth rip. It doesn't sound 'muted' or 'muffled'.

Since we do not do final assembly until an order is placed, you can essentially choose the length of muffler and size of core. Most customers choose either a 15" or 18" muffler,
2" or 2.375" core, 2" or 2.25" outlet tip. All mid-pipes are Titanium and only come in one flavor.

What about a thinner outer shell muffler with very tight packing and a 2" core and 2" outlet but about 12" length in carbon fiber outside? The smaller diameter muffler outside accomodates less packing, and a tigher pack, so smoother flow and more HP...but the core and outlet being smaller keeps backpressure decent so its closer to the 18" and it is shorter so it would be louder? I want something that is loud but as loud as a D&D or louder but not that crappy raspy sound, something more classy. And I want to keep all the stock power ranges, so I would guess keep or gain 1rwhp in the low/mid range and increase the top end 3-5 rhwp...I guess I want the best of both worlds, if it's not possible I want to make it possible.

Hmm.... You're really kinda all over the place with your theorys....

You say "thinner outer shell", then "smaller diameter muffler". I assume you are trying to say simply a smaller diameter muffler.... A smaller muffler has nothing to do with packing being looser or tighter. You either have the correct loft or you don't; regardless of the amount of area you are working with. Sound would be just as, if not more dependant on the percentage of perforation used in the core material, as well as the overall length of the internal core. The "core and outlet" being smaller have little to do with a correlation between an 18" muffler & 12" muffler. Too many other dynamics to consider and/or are affected. A lot of change occurs taking away a third of the length. Changing lengths changes the powerband and/or power (period). The "tone" will be very different at several points in the rpm range. When you make those changes to the overall length of the exhaust system, other changes are normally/commonly made to take advantage and/or fix whatever may have happened and/or been your original goal. All things being equal, a 12" muffler will be louder than an 18" muffler. I have no idea how it would compare to a D&D or what may constitute a "classy" sound change. It should sound deeper and "smoother" with our particular core design(s) and Silent Sport Premium packing material. D&D has at times utilized "louvered" cores which sound/flow completely different than perforated cores. I have very seldomly tested their exhaust. You won't be keeping the stock power "range" with a 12" muffler. More than likely it would move the powerband up. I couldn't really "guess" what would occur. I try not to speculate too much. I let the dyno simply tell the facts.

Bottom line is that if you want a 12" muffler in a large diameter ellipse, or a smaller diameter round muffler, we can build either one. Whether it keeps and/or gives you everything you would like, I really couldn't say for sure. Our systems sound awesome and make good power; as do many others on the market.
