I'm taking Kim with me to Jax so if we do some roll-on's on the way, well, she won't be too happy!

I tried calling Stock Mild to Wild and no answer, I'll call again today. Prolly order the front gear later on this week, other than that I need some rear turn signals.

Sounds good Adam....I really hope the weathers cooperates on Saturday. Hey, if you do roll-ons with Kim on the bike, then I might finally be able to win!

If I do roll-ons with Kim on the bike I'm breaking out the 12
Speaking of which I pulled it out of retirement today, I can't believe I have drug a peg on that fat pig! I love it though, it's like a big comfy, clumsy, wobley, couch... with alotta low-end/midrange grunt. Maybe we should pit the 10 against the old 12? What do ya think? Then the R1 against the 12? So many bikes so little time.

As matter of fact I been thinking about going up to Cecil to let the big dog eat one more meal before I sell it.

I know he is supervisor with Fla Power and Light and with the Hurricanes can get called out. Sucked last year when I had new valves put in. Every freaking month a hurricane hit and he was gone a couple weeks than backed up. I have tried calling him a few times and e-mails but no response. I wanna freshen up the bottom end and maybe do a stroker before I spray it.

He is worth waiting for though. SMTW good folks but last mapping had a dip the tuning link sw did not fix. Jeff fixed in two pulls.... In fairness the tuning link did improve in other areas of the powerband and I was satisfied with the work.

Jeff's R1 made some nice numbers but he said it was like a 600 on steroids all top end. Sounded very good and a great looking bike. Can't figure out why nobody is making a traditional (non undertail pipe) yet. I know port design can influence the undertail pipes, but all those bends and the extra weight gotta be some good gains in there going with a side pipe.

I wasn't going to say anything because I've always looked up to and respected Jeff and turned to him with anything motorcycle, anything he has said over the years I've listened to and remembered, every word, but I think this needs an explanation. In all honesty I took my 12 to him twice to diagnose the slight smoking on cold start-up and see about fixing it. I dropped it off last Nov(after hurricane season, before the winter) so he wouldn't be too busy. 2 weeks later I stop by to check up on it and he hadn't even pulled it out the back. All I wanted was a wet/dry compression test to see where the problem was. I took it back home. Two months later in the middle of winter I stop by to see if he had a chance to look at it over the next week or two, he looked at me like I was crazy. I had to drive down to Ocala to Torry racing to fix the prob, and they dyno tuned the PCIII for $40 cheaper than Jeff quoted me. I then priced a set of tires, he gave me a quote of $50 more than buying elsewhere so I bought elsewhere, drop them off at his shop and he wanted to charge me $90($45 each) to mount and balance two tires! I took them to JenningsGP and had them swapped out for $5 each.

About a year ago Eric here asked me if I know of anyone Profesional who could swap out a set of tires and do some dyno runs, I refered him to Jeff, Eric calls to see when he'll be there, Jeff gave him a date and time and Eric drove all the way from G-ville to L.C. and was there at the correct date and time, Jeff was not. I think he ended up showing hours later than he said but not sure. He might have had to leave and come back another time.

Another one of Jeff's loyal customers who I will not give name, took his bike there recently for engine repairs and was told he didn't have time to look at it. He turned to me and I had to refer him elsewhere.

Jeff is a great person, but if he is not hiring an experienced mechanic just to save himself money he'll continue to lose customers. I understand he's a supervisor at FPL, I understand being a business owner is a full-time around the clock job especially when you have a family, but after Paul left Jeff seemed to turn his attention to not one, not two, but three Buick Grand Nationals and HPC seemed to be put on the backburner. I mean it is a motorcycle shop, if you can't take your bike there to get repaired or souped up then what's it good for? And to top it all off when looking for someone to watch the shop and order parts during the time he is busy with FPL he keeps hiring these cuite little teeniebopper girls straight from restraunts that don't know the difference from a ZX12 or a lampshade. And then he get's upset when guys stop by and hit on them? C'mon, if he'd hire someone to watch the shop from 9am to 5 or 6pm, that can order parts instead of sitting on the phone all day with their friends, and hire an experienced mechanic things would run smooth.

Sorry to hear that. I know he has tried to hire a few mechanics but they turned out to be crap.

I think its a hard transition to make going from a small one man shop that has a good reputation and growing and hire someone good, they either want too much money and than your overhead goes up and your prices. Than everyone bitches, I know I have seen some bikes in there I would not touch and people expecting miracles. I think he is being more selective on what he wants too work on not to imply that your bike is not one of them.

The resturaunt girls? they look good though! Takes lots of knowledge for counter sales and that costs money which equate to higher prices. SMTW did not have a parts manager when I brought my bike in and still not sure if they got one yet. They had a pretty girl but I better be quiet I think that was Ryan's ex..

I have been at Jeff;s when someone brings someone elses fuckup from xyz shop and ask can you fix it? all I have money is for this...and when it needs more things and don't run like they expect it too they bitch.

Seems all shops around here take in more work and take forever to complete . Lee's performance and KWS are reported to be faster and stock parts but is it worth a 50% premium and the long ass drive?

Weird on the dyno and tire prices and your 12 problem. Maybe he is getting burned out.

Jeff has always been into cars though.

I miss the ole buzz bomb 'Paul" . Many good times we had closing the shop and playing on the backroads. on Saturday afternoons. He has always treated me right and folks I recommended but is not fast.

Anyway, good luck and SMTW will treat ya right . Should make some good numbers in this air too.

Rick

Not only weird but also a good way to piss-on and run-off your loyal customers. Loyalty goes both ways. If he wants to charge me $90 to mount and balance two tires out of spite for not ordering them from him then he'll lose more money in losing me and my referals to him than just charging me a reasonable price for the tires to begin with. I don't think he's getting burned out, just greedy. And I'm hearing this from more and more of his former loyal customers.

I meet alot of fellow riders, I ride year round all round usually totaling 25,000+ miles a year and when they need work done or parts at a good price I used to send them his way, but I can't now because I'm not sure if he's capable or willing to do the work or sell anything at competitive rates anymore.

My 04 10 walks on my 04 R1 in a roll on with equal mods & equal riders. The lower the RPM, the worse it was.167hp vs 151hp is why that happens. When I installed the Carbon wheels on the R1 this wasn't near as drastic. 1 tooth down on the front and leaves above 7k and it was anyones show. On the track with equal suspension mods the R1 absolutely leaves the 10 in the weeds. The R1 is a more confidence inspiring track bike for me.

That'll be funny if the R1 ended up with like 15 less hp!
Put THAT in all the "spec sheet riders" pipe's and smoke'em.
I'm betting the 10 makes 5-8 more peak hp than the 1. Not that it matters, we already know they're close in balls out acceleration, you can tell by the way only 30 lbs makes such a diff, but it could be interesting.

Then all we need is two bathroom scales to weigh the bikes and then us with gear on.

I replaced my rear fender earlier tonite(looks alot better!) with a smaller aluminum bracket, just waiting on rear turn signals. The 1st mod I'm doing is gearing, -1 front to match the short stroke motor but I'm not doing that until after our dyno run Saturday. I might end up doing -1front/+1 or 2rear for JenningsGP. I really don't think I'll do too much to this bike, the exhaust is fine as is, I'll just adjust the gearing and experiment with suspension/tire combos so when I make it into my next trackbike in a year or two I'll know what does what. I'm thinking a 180 rear and raise the forks 5mm will make it cut corners like a razor blade. Or stick with the 190 rear and raise'em 10mm. For the track I'm more than likely sticking with the 180 Dragon slicks and if not too unsettled up 10mm with the forks. I'll find out as I go along.

I ride the 180 sticky tire 1500 miles life span on the back of my 04 zx10r. I will also never go back to street tires. To all if you haven't ridden on 180 stickies, you are missing out lots.

so many people i know with both bikes have told me the exact same thing. 10 wins the drag race and R1 wins the track

I've been riding for quite some time now and I calls it the way I sees it. Those are the facts. There is less fatigue on the road course with the R1 , you can keep the revs up so the power diff isn't nearly as apparent. Higher corner speeds, higher exit speeds, increased confidence. But, put the ZX10 on a hi speed course as opposed to a technical track and the R1 might have a problem. The 10 would still be the scarier ride. On the 1320' I'll be taking a ZX10 please!
