zx10r feelin slugish?
Well I have a zx10r andI hear people talking about lifting in 2nd gear off power. Well I am down a tooth in the front and still can't get anything out of 2nd when scooted far back in the seat. Now that is not the problem. I bought the bike used and what I am wondering is...could there be a problem with the spark plugs to where a cylinder is not firing? that would limit the power by like 20 hp which would mean the difference bewteen a monster bike and a fast bike...I guess I am wondering what all can limit a zx10r's performance. That way I can check to see if everything is in perfect working order.

might have a something wrong......but I woudlnt fret.....only time mine pulls the front wheel in 2nd is if I tug on the bars and try to wheelie, or at the track when its turning 10 grand or more with hard upshifts......my 10 will pull the tire off the ground a few inches when I shift 5th gear if I hit it right....and 6th gets light.....I am putting 157 HP to the ground right now....
I woudnt sweat it........being a used bike I woudl take it in for a check up and fluid changed...all of them......just in case.....

Are you at altitude? Mine will not do 2nd up at 4500 feet. If I drop down to 3000 feet I can get it to come up in second if I hammer it hard at 10000 plus RPM. I haven't tried it at sea level yet.

I'm sure there's probably nothing wrong with your bike. I'm guessing you're probably just not hitting the throttle at the right rpm in 2nd. Try cracking it wide open at 10,000 in 2nd....it should come up.
When I first got the 10, I sure thought that it wasn't nearly the wheelie monster everyone hyped it up to be. Half of the bullshit you read on message boards about people doing 4th gear power wheelies is just that.....bullshit. Maybe they're in 4th gear standing up on the passenger pegs.
Here is what your 10 should be doing under full acceleration (provided you're around 180 lbs and your bike is pretty close to stock):
1st gear- bike will wheelie unprovoked as tach sweeps past 8,500 rpm
2nd gear- bike will make front tire skim the ground in upper rpm range; bars will wag back and forth as tach sweeps past 10,000rpms.
3rd gear-pretty much uneventful. Front end will come up if there is a crest in the road and you're in the upper rpm range. Front end may feel a little light near redline.
4th-6th-I've never had much of anything happen in these gears. Depending on how hard you shift, your results may vary (as HDL pointed out).
Hope this helps.
