Lowering Straps?!- I have to race
Well I have a race Thursday and want to do some quarter mile runs...I don't want to lower the bike, I was just thinking I will strap the front end to help keeping it from wheelieing. It will only be for one or two runs. I will leave the rear end up even though it should probably be lowered. My questions are: 1. how do the lowering straps work? can someone post a pic of there bike with lowering straps? Where do they attach to on the fork/triple tree? also, how do they hinder turning ability which what i keep hearing? I have some straps and wanted to try it out to see how the performance is. now for #2. how do lowering links work for the rear? I was thinking about installing lowering links that also have a "stock" position since I prefer stock when riding and then when I run the QM at the track I can lower 2 inches or so. Is it a pain to adjust the lowering links? Or is it something I can stop at the track and drop or raise in less then 5 or 10 minutes? Some knowledge would be appreciated. Thanks.

Lowering links...10 minutes to adjust them if you get the fully adjustable style. If you get the regular ones that are 2 or 3 hole, then it will take 30-60 minutes depending how good you are. You're far better off getting the fully adjustable ones if you plan on changing the height often. I would not want to be installing/removing the linkage bolts often and wearing them out...if one of those bolts comes off while you're riding, you're screwed.

You mount the strap to the bracket on the calipers, then follow the strap up the fork tube, over the triple, around the top of one of the tubes and back down to the bracket again. One strap for each fork leg. You can still turn the bike, but it's not always easy. I don't have a zx10, so I can't tell you exactly. Some bikes will keep most of their steering with straps, some won't be able to steer much at all. Depends how much clearance the strap has. Rear lowering links change the geometry of the suspension linkage, shortening your travel. It's fine for the track, but more than 2-3 inches on the street is a pain in the ass over bumps.

If you have a 10 you need the brackets to mount the straps to the radial calipers. I assume you do butyou didn't mention it. But anyway, when you pull the front end down you can go as low as you like almost as long as you leave around an inch of fork travel. Most guys run their strap over the steering neck(I do) and the steering is not affected much. Just a little heavy when you get close to lock.
hope this helps.

So wait a sec. Which lowering links only take 10 minutes to adjust? Are they the links that have 3 holes (stock, 1.5", 3")?? Or are there some different ones I am supposed to look for? Also, does any one have pics of the lowering straps on the forks on a zx10r? And where ishe best place to find them cheap?
