Another piece of information to put things in perspective:

Each day 15,000 or so children die of hunger.

It costs maybe $2-3 to feed a child per day.

We have have spent perhaps 2 Trillion dollars on our wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. All precipitated , ostensibly, by what happened on 9/11. Is our current thought process and methodology a winning one?

http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/fromthefield/carintern/9e9e54eac735cfcd9b98b3a8e031cfa4.htm

Who are we helping? Think about it.

Actually the actions in both nations have much further-reaching consequences than revenge for 9/11; the protection from or stopping of acts of terrorism aspect is one that is an actual and real function of the government.

Private charity accounts for a much more significant and lasting positive influence for those in need; besides giving food away is not a legal function of the US Government.

Whatever; people become accustomed to and forget things which should not be forgotten, and they memorize and pay attention to things which are worthless. It's always good to keep an eye on and pay attention to and remember who the enemy really is. Sadly in our 30 second attention span society people are more interested in creating little political wars over power than they are over any real functioning of the nation as a whole.

This thread, however, was not really designed to be a political discussion over the pluses or minuses of a war or set of wars you don't like. It simply is a remembrance of people who through no fault of their own had their lives taken from them. And again, there were many more than just 'us victims' involved in this tragedy.

"Helping" countries, and people in need, however, does seem to often be the supposed motivation behind our government's actions.

In fact, humanitarian aid is commonly provided by the USA.

So, in that regard, your statement has little merit.

On another note:

quote:
Iraqi Civilians Killed, Estimated - A UN issued report dated Sept 20, 2006 stating that Iraqi civilian casualties have been significantly under-reported. Casualties are reported at 50,000 to over 100,000, but may be much higher. Some informed estimates place Iraqi civilian casualities at over 600,000.

Those are Iraqi CIVILIAN deaths. I bet they are grateful for our "help". More great things that have come out of our focus after 9/11?

Come on, USA. Wake up! Never forget...but move forward and grow as a Nation.

I think there might be a small chance that you are missing my point. It's about National Priorities in the scheme of an Official Policy which revolves around the events of 9/11.

I'm sure that of those 15,000+ starved-dead children each day, only a small percentage are "worthless fukks".

Stalking you? Yeah right! - That's a sad comment to make Shane and i have no idea what your sig said before or how it makes any inferrence on what my views or comments have been.
Look. I'm not going to get into bitch fight with you. Your posts have generally always been on the informative side, of which i look forward to following.
And i follow a lot of posts on this particular forum and many other overseas forums, thanks.

If you don't want stalkers - like me - and other posters having a say about your recent negative posts, then don't post anything. Simple.

Then we can all pick on 1bad then

Obba, most of your contributions as of late seem to be directed at assessing the post quality of various board members, me included, while adding little or nothing to the topic at hand. Why don't you contribute something meaningful to these discussions instead?

Regarding my signature, that is where my sponsors were listed...which you referenced earlier.

This drama aside, do you have anything to add regarding the points I am making about my country and it's need to move forward as a nation after 9/11?

I do. I am not here to debate, but to state.
I am not going to respond to any rebuttles.
People can make their own opinions, but first please read this!

A German's View of Islam

This is by far the best explanation of the Muslim terrorist situation I have
ever read. His references to past history are accurate and clear.
Concise, easy to understand, and well worth the read. The author of this email
is said to be Dr. Emanuel Tanay, a well-known and well-respected psychiatrist.

A German's View of Islam

A man whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II, owned a
number of large industries and estates. When asked how many Germans were
true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism.
"Very few were true Nazis," he said, "but many enjoyed the return of German
pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just
thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So the majority just sat back and
let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us. We had lost
control, and the end of our world had come. My family lost everything. I
ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories."

We are told again and again by 'experts' and 'talking heads' that Islam is
the religion of peace and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to
live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is
entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better,
and meant to somehow diminish the spectre of fanatics rampaging across the
globe in the name of Islam.

The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history. It is
the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 wars
worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or
tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire
continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder,
and honor-kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It
is the fanatics who zealously spread the doctrine of stoning and hanging
rape victims and homosexuals. It is the fanatics who teach their young to
kill and to become suicide bombers.

The hard, quantifiable fact is that the peaceful majority, the 'silent
majority,' is cowed and extraneous.

Communist Russia was comprised of people who just wanted to live in peace,
yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20
million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant.
China's huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed
to kill a staggering 70 million people.

The average Japanese prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist.
Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an
orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese
civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet.

And who can forget Rwanda , which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be
said that the majority of Rwandans were peace loving?

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our
powers of reason, we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:
Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence.
Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because
like my friend from Germany , they will awaken one day and find that the
fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.

Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans,
Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have
died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.
As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group
that counts -- the fanatics who threaten our way of life.

Lastly, anyone who doubts that the issue is serious and just deletes this
email without sending it on, is contributing to the passiveness that allows
the problems to expand.

I think it is a clear and precise indication of lack of respect, and compassion for fellow man, to build a mosque at the foot of the 9/11 disaster.
If it was my religion, culture or creed, wishing to do so, after facists of my religion, creed, or culture commited this autrosity, I would be ashamed.

Like I said, thats my opinion, and nobody is going to change it, so don't bother trying to bend my mind.

I've never really given a shit about religion - hey, if you wanna believe in what you want to believe in have at it. Just don't try to bring me into your beliefs and we will get along fine.

9/11 however changed things for a lot of people.

I doubt Muslims will ever recover in our lifetime from what many of their more fervent and radical followers have done over and over and quite frankly I could care less.

I have read the Koran for my own knowledge, studied Islam, Sharia and the Middle East so I could understand possibly the motivation for what is so foreign to the western world.

After it was all done and said I understand more than I care to what motivates Muslims.

I would invite anybody who thinks they understand the goals of Islam to read a bit of the Koran. It will open your eyes big time.

That's my opinion.

That being said - fuck the Middle East.
