To me it looks like the cat is in fact in the collector and that makes it very hot - probably thats the reason it's not covered. I think that in real the cutout dosen't look that big like in the pictures.

...goofy asthetics...probably works like a charm, though...that GXR's starting to look better and better...even this makes the DUC999 looke good ...when will the Japanese MFGs make something as achingly beautiful as that 4-piped MV?

Looking forward to seeing BOS exhaust for the 2006 ZX-10R, look how nice the Ducati 749 system looks from them.

I like it. I also like that they FINALLY included a steering damper! I'll probably get one.

Well debating aesthetics and one's concept of beauty is a waste of time.

It's like sitting down at the dinner table for a great meal and complaining about the color and pattern of the table cloth.

Do you guys like to ride or do you like to visit art museums and compare Picasso's vis-à-vis Matisse's?

It's going to be a fantastic machine at what it's designed to do, go fast and corner, trust me, she's not a blind date and you won't be fucking her.

Not that I'm in the market for a 10....but my .02.....I like it,
I like the blinkers (way better than those huge things that came on the 04 and 05's),
I like the fact that it comes with a dampener (one less thing to buy aftermarket),
I like new yellow color scheme (although black still looks the meanest)
and even the exhaust is growing on me.

The one thing I do not like is that they have smoothed out the lines on the 06 which has seemed to take away from the "evil, angry look" that appealed to me, in other words, I liked the look of the nose (including the headlights), better on the 04 and 05 .........

but I have liked a bike in pictures before only to see it in person and hate it......so, until they hit the showroom floors, it's really hard to say......and as mentioned already in this thread, it will be interesting to read up on the HP, the handling, the top speed and any "shoot outs" between it and the GS1000R

Hmmmm......
I like the new upper and lights (would be nice if both operated at the same time - yes, I undersatnd they're projectors) and I like the tail with integrated turn sigs.

The exhaust will look alot better once the heat sheilds and mufflers are painted (matte) black.

I wonder how much of this will fit on the 04/05's?

I like the swingarm but not the wheel color.

As a long term owner kinda guy, I still wonder about the effets of underseat exhaust and the
heat it generates for all of the electrical components in the tail.

Kerry - you need to make a nice singe canister fatty slip-on for this beasty.

Blue next year?

Oh yeah - what about the 12????

The 12'll prob just get some new paint. Liter bikes are the money makers now. There's still new/unsold '02-'05 12's around. The future seems to belong to the little dudes on little liter bikes, that might do 2-3k miles a year. I've always said my '00 12 could be the last bike I buy for a loooooong time. Still looking that way.If it gave me even a lick of trouble, I might not feel as strongly as I do. Best damn thing I've ever bought.

You are right JJ. The 06 does have a less evil look. And like D said, painting the exhaust and heat shields black might blend them into the frame.

What a fickle group of guys!!! I think the bike looks tough...everybody bitches when Kaw doesn't do anything, they bitch when they re-design the bike. It's better looking than the Gsxr and Kaw addressed the major gripe with this bike...a steering damper!!!As soon as it rips off a great E.T. at the track everyone will fall in love with it.Be glad Kaw isn't sitting on their hands.

I'll just have to wait and see if they're lying again. I can work around the exhaust.
Lighter with more power? We'll see.
Did anyone in the real world get the 162 HP out of their 04's like the magazines did? (stock)

I don't like it. I am so glad I bought my 05 instead. You never know it may grow on me. The new Gixxer did. But as of right now I'll keep mine. I do hope the head lights are better. Because the ones on the currant model leave quite a bit to be desired.

Sounds like a Girl's School Bitch Fight in here! Anyone seen one in the flesh? Ridden one or read a real world test? I have a much greater respect for Kawasaki Engineers, to me it seems they have been listening to just the right things ( asthetics aside ) the chassis did need some adjustment , the motor needed to be repositioned to give the bike the additional handling attributes required for the power the bike already has.

If kawi wants to be at the pointy end of the field these are the changes that matter and need to be addressed first if the breed is to progress, lets face it no good having the best looking bike on the road/track if Joe Blow on his Moped leaves you in his dust.

The 04/05 model was a radical change in looks from all the other Jap bikes don't know about you but I like to be different and the new 06 is certinally that!

It is a bad ass machine, get over the looks and ride one when you get a chance then all those dislikes will be a forgotten thought. Guys remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder and alot of folks are going to be beholding a shrinking view of back of this bike.............

I like it too...

The seat is nice and thin by the tank, excellent for the DragStrip!!!

Hmm, lets see what else???...A heavier crank and better fuel injection, sounds like the throttle will be super smooth!!!...Bottom fairing real close to pipe and motor, good for slamming low!!!

Im sure Akrapovic will make a 4 into 2 into 1 or 4 into 1, with the canister under the tail on the brake side...

Cant wait to see what it goes in the 1/4...

I think the smooth nose is going to grow on people.

Already when I look at the 04/05 nose, it looks dated.

I think the styling intent here makes a lot of sense.

The 04/05 bike was both in appearance and in effect generally described as being the "angriest" literbike, the one with the most balls, the hardest to ride, the one that could cross you the fastest. The winner of most comparos for speed and handling, but always with the above sorts of statements.

The Honda was generally described as being not as fast, but oh so easy to ride, so user friendly. The R1 and 'Zook fit somewhere in the middle.

Now look at the sales figures.

Did the "angry" approach sell bikes?

Nope it put the 10R at the dead bottom of the sales list! Being fastest and looking mean did not sell bikes.

So, one, in fact make the bike smoother to ride, more user friendly and forgiving, put that steering damper on that plus perhaps other changes accomplishing this.

Then, make it LOOK smoother as well.

Exactly why, given previous sales results, would the "angry" look have been a wise choice this time around?

The front to me looks like some recent Ferraris that are similarly smooth and somewhat similar in the headlights. It is very different from the 04/05 bikes but to call the front ugly, I don't agree.
