New 10r owner, couple of standard prereq questions
I just purchased a New 05 ZX10r a week ago. I also own an RC51, VERY different bikes. I immmediately ordered a GPR damper, what have you guys done to make the 10 regain some composure at higher speeds. It seems very squirly at transition points when I attempt to shift weight for diirection changes, and even more squirly when its "light" in the frontened due to harder acceleration (I mean harder because I can hamfist the RC51, and ride it, I know that I need discipline on the throttle with this one to keep tires on pavement). Second, what exhaust slipons do you gusy reccomend?? I want something with decent quality, and sound, not neccessarily loud, just a bit deeper if possible (cruised through some online shops to look at Jardine, FMF, Ti Force, Sato, Akra, Arata, Micron, etc, its mind boggling). Third, and I know its asked a ton, I am not going to cut the fairings YET, so what no cut sliders are the best bet (sturdy), Ive seen some pics of one version (dont know which one) that uses the engine mount and the rear ward hole in the frame so the forces upon impact can be transmitted to 2 bolts (that, I like). Any help is appreciated, Thanx.

Well the zx10r is completely different than the rc51 for starters as you well know, I use to have a 97 gsxr750 then went to the 10r and man what a difference, the 10r is very light in the front end and is very squirly the only thing I have found is I have a hyperpro damper that really helps the tank slappers, but the front is very light still just have to get use to it and how it rides. Its very hard going from a tank to a light bike!!!!! The Area P is the exhaust I would go with nice sound very light and good price!!!! There is some that I have seen on ebay and it comes with a spacer so you dont have to cut the fairing.....hope this helps

Thanks, Ive assumed the heavy to light is some of it, as is my riding position on it. Ive found that is I crammed my ass all the way up on the damn tank it helps, didnt have to do that on the RC (Im 6'6"). I bought the ZX cause its light, more forgiving to us tall folks than other similar bikes (k5 is ridiculous for tall guys, the CBR1000rr is pretty good, better in legroom, but leaves my damn knees up at the very top of the tank, just like my RC, very unatural feeling, the R1 is just as damn beautiful as the ZX, just not as comfortable, and the ZX is pretty good, except for how I have to position my body to keep enough weight on the frontend). Ive also read some problems with some universal fender eliminators causing tailsection cracks, anyone have a brand reccomendation for the zx?

You can solve many of the handling issues (including light front end) by using the settings in the following thread
http://www.bikeland.org/board/viewthread.php?FID=19&TID=16927
You'll find the softening of the rear makes the bike "squat" ever so slightly.. big improvement to the handling...
Plus I can guarantee you can trust the source of the info

I picked my 10 up last week and have been pleasantly suprised how stable it is...I've found it to be fine right up through 170. It doesn't have the freight train feel of my old 12, but it doesn't make me nervous at all.
