05 zx10r muzzy slip on with pcIIIusb mapping question

Hello all,

I'm the proud new owner of a 05 GREEN ZX10R.

its just been broken in (almost by the book.... not quite ) and i've got a muzzy carbon slip on exhaust that's got the mid pipe from muzzy. I've also got a PCIIIusb which I recently installed. it came with a map from the seller (from ebay) that was supposedly mapped for my bike with a muzzy slip on and stock air filter.

it definately ran better than without the PCIII but still gurgles quite a bit and backfires when under engine braking... bad map?

this is my first FI bike. my other 2 bikes were the 98 zx9 and the 2003 zx9.

a friend told me that FI bikes when you go up to the mountains automatically adjust the misture so you don't notice any changes in the fuel misture and run either rich or lean with dramatic altitude changes... is this true? because I just made a trip from southern cali up to big bear (about 7000' from 700') and I noticed a BIG difference in the throttle response...
first gear under 8000rpm had NOTHING... couldn't even "POP" a throttle wheelie in first gear around 6000rpm... but as soon as I got back down to the valley it was all good....

is this normal? or are the FI systems supposed to auto adjust to elevation? this sure sounds like a load of crap to me... I mean, how's the Fi supposed to be able to tell your elevation, and if your running too rich or lean?

thanks for any advice!

As far as the ECU adjusting for altitude it most assuredly does so. The only thing it can do is adjust the F/A mixture and timing. It senses the barometric pressure and Manifold Absolute Pressure and adjust the mixture and timing accordingly. IT CANNOT manufacture lost air density and pressure. So there is going to be a big difference in the way it runs.

I have a custom map for your set-up done my rob...it is probably the best and most technical map ever done on a zx10r...also was done in a wind tunnel with ram-air taken into the mapping process...Let me know if you want it. I am selling it to slip-on owners for $10 bucks, to help pay for the $500 mapping cost. It will run a couple horsepower more than most maps, but the big thing is the ram air being mapped in...at around 90-150 there is a huge boost in power...as soon as you get up to 90, not one modded bike will hang with you if you have this map.

cool... so I think your saying that some self adjusting IS going on, however in higher altitudes and thinner air, I WILL notice a difference in throttle response andpower right?
