Good ride turned bad

Hey everyone, I've been on the forum for a while but have been keeping my mouth shut. I'm usually not one for talkin but i have soaked in alot of good info here, so thanks for that.

Anyway, last saturday I decided to take a ride with a few guys i've never riden with before. The only person i knew there was a guy i work with. He and another guy had a busa, two other guys had 03' R1s, one guy had an R6, and i had my 10 of course. The ride started out in new jersey and quickly went to Pa. The morning started out great, lots of nice twistys through pa, and up to port jervis. After a stop for lunch, things just went wrong. We got onto highway 84, it's a three lane 65 mph road. Now dont get me wrong I love tearin it up in the twistys but when in comes to highways like this I tend to hold back on the speed a little. The last thing i need is anymore trouble with the law. However, the guys i was with didnt see it that way, so as soon as we hit the road, they cracked the throttle back.... I went as fast as i felt comfortable with, and they were still pullin away from me so i just decided to back down a bit and keep it under 100. Not a minute later i see a cop car pullin out of the median about a mile up the road. Damn, good thing i decided to keep the speed down. One of the busas pulled over for him because he was a cop himself, but the trooper flew past him and went for the others. Me and one of the R1s that held back kept riding up the road lookin for them, couldnt find em anywhere. We got off at an exit and went to a gas station to see if we couldn't get in touch with anyone. The guy i was with called to cop on the busa who told us that they had been tagger at 170 and that the cop went after the others and that we should get the hell outta there cause they're gonna be lookin for all of us. We took his advice and booked it back to jersey where we split up and went our own ways.

Once i got home i called the guy i work with to see what happened. (He was also the only one ridin with a girl on the back, both of them wearing tank tops....thats just stupid). He answered said he was in jail and his girl had fallen off the bike when he was switching for the west side of the highway to the east when he hit a pothole. He said he gave up runnin and everyone else got away.

I got a call monday mornin from a pa trooper right before my surgery asking me all types of guestions so i told him all i knew, which was basically this story and the first names of everyone, i didnt know anything else, He said he found it hard to believe that the both of us only knew everyone else by a first name basis, but i was as honest with him as i could've been.

So late monday afternoon i call up the place i work to see if they heard from him. They said he just got outta jail, the girl was released from the hospital ( a big relief) and that he had 29 charges and has to go to a hearing on the 5th.

Just one more reason not to do insane speeds on highways, besides the fact that you can kill yourself or someone else, you can also wind up in some really deep doo doo.

I am very selective about the guys I ride with these days just for that reason.... I have gone from riding in big groups to riding with 3 or 4 good buddies, and we all know how each other rides......Sorry to hear about the girl falling off and the major tickets....that really sucks.....
