Just when I started to warm up to.......
Just when I started to warm up to the Dunlop 218s (I got used to them and they actually got better after I broke in the bike, also the weather warmed up), I had to go an put on a set of Pilot Powers, WHAT A DIFFERENCE, Effortless steering, almost no slip on the street, The bike just holds any line at just about any speed. So much easier to stand up the bike with positive and neutral steering. Even when new and not scuffed in they stuck like glue (although I didn't go overboard). The only drawback I have found is they like to wiggle, on grooved pavement, but no biggie. Same story as every other time I have replaced Dunlops with Michelins..... A huge improvement.

Bridgestones? Not me. I have a problem with any company that starts off with bargain basement products. Just like Shoei helmets. Second rate stuff, then they step up when others did their homework. I worked at a motorcycle shop for 10 years and when a crashed bike would come in from a loss of tracton, 9 times out of 10 they were on Bridgestones. No, not me.

Ted, I went through the same thing with the 218's, 'cept I made a journey through D208's before the Pilot Powers came out. Pilot Powers all the way, baybee!

It turely is a personal problem, they may be the best tires in the world. And unless they can prove it to me, I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole. But from what I have read, the powers are a much better tire, especially for the street.

anyone else see the article in Roadracing World and the tire test?
I was suprised the Powers didnt do better than they did, and really suprised at some of the things that were said and written about the other tires as well. What I found really interesting is the Air Pressure chart that accomp[onied the article and some of the recommended pressures for the track......Some were VERY low, like 22 PSI......check it out if you get a chance. I will try to copy some of the charts and see if I can paste them on the forum.

HDL,
Gotta keep the Pilot Power (street tire, occasinal trackday use, especially in cold temps), and the Power Race (DOT full-race tire) straight. I use the Pilot Power on the 10R. I did take the Pilot Powers to a trackday last December, and they did awesome in 55-60' ambients. Pressures in these tires are a sorepoint - some folks run 'em as high as 36-37 PSI rear, 33 or so front. I run them lower, and I like the feel better. The higher pressures give me a harsh, oversteering feeling, but your mileage may vary. Actually, the tires seem to last amazingly long at any pressure.
The Power Race comes in two flavors, both coming in different compounds: Power Race and PR. The PR tire is marginally better than the Power Race tire IMHO, and I run the PR2/PR5 or PR2/Power Race Medium as a combination interchangeably. The price difference is not large, either. I run 30.5 or 31 PSI front, and 21.5-23 PSI rear depending on the track and ambient temp and wear pattern I see on the tire.
The price difference between the Medium single-compound construction and the Medium-Soft or Soft dual-compounds is fairly siginificant, too, and may matter to you depending on your track surface.
But the Pilot Powers rock for the street!

I am running the Pilot Power street tires. On the track i run 31 front and 32 rear and had good luck with that. On the street i run 34 front and rear. I have no complaints on theses tires both on the track and the street.
