Wow, 20 mph.Ya think Suzuki went a bit far wtth their weight reduction program? But in Suzuki's defence it did hit an Iron boat anchor.

Look at the skid marks. I don't beleive the 35MPH claim. He locked both wheels almost simultaneously, and slid sideways on the rubber for about 40ft , crossing about a foot or so into the opposite lane, then the impact was about 8 feet past the point the bike was on it's side and the wheels left the ground. The harley I think rode over the frame of the gixx at the point of breakage, and the spill would be the Harley's gastank contents.

I also think the reason the bikes stayed close to each other is momentum - the harley is a heavier bike (it's a Sportster-based one, though!), and the energy of the impact went into the Gixx's frame, not into sliding somewhere else.

Reading that thread... I think the rider target-fixated on the Harley guy and hit the Harley just barely in the Harley's lane. I think the Harley guy was daydreaming in the wrong lane, but not by much.

Moral of the story: If you can't see what may be coming at you, stay away from the center line.
