Yellow Fuel Light Question
Don't now if this was covered before but has anyone figured out how many more miles you can go after the fuel light comes on?!

My 10 is getting 40ish per gallon, When the light goes on I have almost exactly 1 gallon left. So that makes it 40.

I for one start looking for fuel at 100 miles if I am not sure as to where the next fuel is.

I don't wait for the light. At 120 miles, I start looking for a gas station.

Altitude = less air= less fuel. Very seldom do I go below 4500 feet. Also I take it easy on the freeway, too many cops. Very little scares me, no fear of speed, love top end runs, like to slide(ex flat tracker), love wheelies, but traffic cops (or armed meter mollies) scare the living shit out of me. On the 12 which got about the same mileage, I rode it from Reno to Auburn which is exactly 100 miles. That is over Donner pass and then downhill to Auburn (about 1000 feet.) and the thing got exactly 50. Then dropped into Sac, then SF and the mileage went to 30ish.

Well .................. I'm just wondering as the fuel stops where were going from San Diego to Laguna (the way we go) are few and far between. So lets say the light comes on I guess its safe to say that I would have at least 20 miles about (actual) as I have a "yellow box" so as my speedo is accurate. Hate running outta gas! Don't like no fuel gauge either

fuel light on
I was trying to put some miles break in miles on my 10 yesteyday. I was out by Lake Mead, I came out of a nice sweeper and decided to let ole girl strech her legs, then some thing caught my Ieye just about the time to start applying brake, a little yellow light and an LCD display flashing FUEL. Now I just got back from Iraq, rendered safe over 20 live IEDs and been ambushed a few times, but I had a sinking feeling in my stomache like I never expierianced over there. I stopped looked up and the sign in front of me said North Las Vegas 14 miles. Well I went kept it under 4000 rpm for 14 miles, said some encouraging words to her and came to the ranger station which was closed. I read the next sighn Las Vegas 12 miles. Off we road again, well went over the last hill and hit the first gas station. Woo hooo! So I know if I talk to her nice and keep it around 4000 in 6th I'll atleast get 26 miles.
