No problem Nuky, My skin is getting thicker CycleWorld endores it. But that means little to me, since rarely do any of the bike mags dyno numbers equate to real world numbers we consumers see. I would rather leave the dyno arena alone unless I wanted to rack up my post count really bad!
The take away is, while the major magazine publication you referenced lost peak hp, which is the first I heard of any loss and take your word for it. Our little litre bikes lack tourque and midrange grunt you 12 and busa's boy's have. I will take a 2 hp overall loss to a 2-4 hp increase in the low and mid range any day. Motorcycle publications are like the press, news channels and newspapers-selective reporting...
I traded some e-mails with the engineer and copy and pasted one trail here. I encourage you or anyone considering to actually contact them and ask and read the techincal info/ studies.
It worked for me. Will it work for everyone? I cannot say yes. The airboz is one of several neat projects they are developing and not all are in the automotive/motorcycle industry. I soak this stuff up
So did you find a builder for your 1397 yet? I'm ready for that rollon. My bike is running much, much better than the night I ran those other fast 12's. I will never match the top end, but up to 160 with a lot less cc's you would be impressed. BTW, I have added over 15 lbs to the bike in its current state.
Below is my last reply from awhile ago. They made an update to the bearings-Ceramic!
Rick,
Please use this document for your discussion with your friends. Please let me know your results since you installed the airboz.
Thanks
Jorge

Thanks for the reply back. What i'm struggling with is trying to understand is how the airboz fan can move and pressurize the airbox and thus make hp with the bike being stationary on the dyno?
The question is not meant to dispute the product, I know it works. It came up in discussion with some friends and I do not have an intelligent answer to respond with.

Rick,
dyno testing both paid or independent has not used fans to simulate the air ram air effect.
fans are only used to cooled the engine. that is it.
to attempt to use fans to blow air and simulate the air ram effect is very difficult. you need variable fans that would keep up with the rpm or mph speed on the bike while the bike is on the dyno. not an easy set up.

Hi Jorge:
In your dyno testing what setup was usedd to simulate the ram air? or more specifically, size and number of fans to direct air into the ram airbox? Dyno's around here, the fans are pointed towards the motor.
Thanks,
Rick

Rick,
I will look for your package.
FYI. This one of 5 racers for the http://www.afmracing.org/ who I am sponsoring this season. He will be reporting his results to http://www.citybike.com/ . So please dont contact him directly. I will send you and update from the article city bike prints on their site.
The shop where you are getting your nos probably told you that the airboz is a gimmick. So after the city bike review, you can become a "broker" and sell it in your area to performance shops as well as to other riders if you like.
Just something for you to think about and make money if you like.
Jorge

Rick - took us 2 days to get the motor out and assemble the 1397 till the point of shimming the valves/cams. We are waiting on the shim kit now. We even split the cases and put a R&D cut tranny in the thing. I still have to get my new chain to make sure my wheelbase does not exceed 61" so i can hook on the street in second (yes this is a problem with 110rwtq or so).
Hopefully i will be at Gville for T&T with the bike Sat Aug 6th...
You are toast...hahahaha

Looks like the 6th will be out for the Busa but i will be on the mighty 6E that night. You and i made identical hp before my build and i still had you by 20rwtq - wish we could have ran - you may have had a chance but that doesn't matter now.
Stock is slow and it is a new month for the Busa...

Good luck with your project. All that TQ is nice to have. Sprinkling now on the southside and calling for a repaeat of last night. Not going to load up and drive out to Jax and be rained out. Will see how Thursday pans out.
Does Dana (Blue nos ZX-10) post on any boards? what about George C? has he done anything besides the usual pipe and pc?

why do I get a picture of bovine tasting the coolant with his tongue to confirm his suspecions?
quote: Flush out the oem coolant. It's made from concentrated hamster urine. Add some water and water-wetter. Very cheap performance mod. I'm running 10-15ºF cooler than stock.
