Anyone removed the cat?
Has anyone removed the cat from the stock exhaust? And if so what were the results? I just got a 2005 and will keep it mostly stock. But a few mods like cat removal, K&Ns, and real tires will be in order.

Forget the K&N. They aren't worth the $ or the hassle and don't help a stock bike. Cat is fun to take out. Fastest way is to take a 2" core out of it with a hammer and a sharpened steel tube after drilling out the circumference with a long twist drill of 3/8" or so. You can then use the long bit to poke a few holes in the baffle plate behind the cat.

Do some research on K&N filters and then on foam. Don't compare freshly oiled filters because you wont find much difference, The differences come in later. as the filters pick up dirt. The K&N will use the dirt as filter media and continues to breathe well and the foam just plugs up. There is alot more to this than meets the eye. Also a K&N needs to be used a while before it breathes well, the oil needs to evaporate.
I took the cat out of my 12 (I just hacked off the header) so I am wondering if the 10 is the same setup?

I punched out the cat. was a little louder. every so often on hard decell you will get a backfire. that happened before and after block off plates. now I have the area P extreme slip on, now I get the pop and a eight inch flame. also keep the stock filter or say good by to your mid range hit.
btw: the area p extreme slip on is really nice!!!
