does any one know about zx10 ignition
Im looking at a motor for sale for a dragbike project
but the motor comes with the ecu and the ignition switch and wiring but no key
can a key be made to operate the ecu (reprogram?) or does the ecu and switch have to be replaced
and/or does any one have a complete zx 10 motor for sale with a key
thanks,
eric

i dont believe the US version has the immobilizer, so there's no programming of the key/ecu. however i'd seriosuly be questioning whether that motor isnt stolen if there's no key.
if ur interested in looking for another motor, start a thread in the classifieds forum.

Thats a Euro bike right?
You must have the red key to program new keys. The red key is matched to the ECU.
Retail for such a key is ~$2000...
Hint; You dont lose the red key! Stay away from that one.

You do not need a key, and the US version does NOT have an immobilizer. The harness has both plugs for both immobilizer boxes, but both plugs are capped and not used straight from the factory. I run the 10R motor in a racecar and have removed quite a few things from the harness. All the relays, the tip over switch, the dash. The exhaust valve actuator is removed also. The FI light probably is flashing, but the motor revs to 12.5 no problem.
