Cold Dense Air = "PERFORMANCE"

The past couple of days our temperatures have been in the mid to upper 30's.Its amazing how much the temps improve the performance.I started to pass a truck and wasnt really trying to pull the front wheel, but I could hardly keep it on the ground. Now I know it will do it any time you want but you can really tell a difference in this cool weather.Get out there and see for your self.........

BBM your Yamaha may even "almost" be able to pull the front wheel in these conditions

I think it's like 1% hp increase for every 10 degree drop in temp. This is only from memory someone correct me if the ratio is off. I have problems with this increase in HP on my 10R cause on cold nights the tires will not hook up very well off the line but, when they are hooking up it is a rush, with only 1/4 tank of gas, trying to keep the front tire on the ground.

My intercooled turbo went like a beast on very cold nights too.

I totally agree... I've always found that where I am (Vancouver), although it never really gets that cold, that the "best" riding powerwise is in late September, mid October.. .definetly an increase powerwise in my "seat of the pants" dyno ... however, it's been my experience that when the temp dips below 9' celcius (what's that? about 45-50?) there's not much point in riding as the tires simply dont "hook up" .... even on the highway you can lay a darkie if you gear down and gas it... that's when I switch to my dualsport for the season

boman, is that jacket keeping you warm

It's been a little too cold for me to ride. We are supposed to be in shorts and short sleeve shirts this time of year in South Texas.

I raced an 02 r1 a few weeks back. Crap! The tire didn't hook, and the bike just wanted to go! It was like 20*. I don't know what the wind chill factor is at 130 mph. Can't wait to ride at sea level.
