And you forgot to mention the VFR1986 broke the World endurance record for a stock bike with an average speed for 24hrs strait gas only stops of 148mph. I quess that would also put the VFR in the reliablity catagory as well. Also must have handled pretty good around that oval track at those speeds.

How do you know that it will jack insurance? I ride my 10 hard and I crashed. I am eating all the expense to fix the bike. No insurance claim. Like the other guy said "he was riding the bike the way it was meant to be ridden". If you are happy to ride around @ 45 mph on a 10 just to look cool casue you are on the baddest bike out there...so be it. There are tons of guys out there that like to be on the edge and enjoy the rush it brings. I am sorry about crispin crashing ...but I am sure when he gets his bike fixed he will be right back at it...as will I. It is only money
I think the concern isn't whether Crispin will be back at it ( I'm certain he will ) but the fact that he took out another rider and the passenger is plain fucked up . I doubt like hell that he'll pay for all of that out of his pocket too , hence the insurance getting involved . I've paid for every crash I've had out of my pocket and yeah it sucks to rebuild a bike that was flawless just a minute ago but as I said before ; where was he looking ? Seriously . I never buy into the "all of a sudden he was there bullshit " . If your going to ride it like it was meant to be ridden then you also have to pay damn close attention to what everybody else is doing too so nobody else gets caught up in the carnage that we all can ( and most of us have )get into . To set things straight.
I was looking up when I wheelied (I am still an amatuer)
I did check the street first and it was empty (it was like 2am during the week)
We all made u-turns
the guy I hit is our slow rider.
He saw us make a u-ture in front of him so he banged one right where he was at and sat on the road waiting for us to catch back up to him.
Well I caught up to him alright
Anyway thankfully the passaangerwas not hurt one bit 9I took her footpeg off withour hitting her foot or leg??)
As far as my friend, yes his leg broke in a couple of places. He isn't going to do anything, my other buddy bought him the parts to fix his bike for x-mas.
Insurance, dude I don't have any, its only a 10K bike.
I paid for everything out of my pocket to repair my bike.
Even if I had insurance I wouln't use it.
I never claim anything. All you are doing it borrowing it from your insurer anyway (higher premiums)
Did I learn a lesson here?? -- Yes very much.
Will I wheelie on the street anymore? -- Not often.
I am going to be much more careful.
I plan on more trackdays and not riding at night with my friends as much.
I have another group of guys (dont like them as much) but they ride on Sunday mornings which is much more safer then Wend nights like I was doing.
I hope to be back on the bike end of next month.
I have ordered a new subframe and all new panels.
I threw in a ful akra exhaust as well.

I really didn't think I would be the guy who wrecked but I am very happy to be alive.
If I didn't flick to the left before impact I would have hit them dead on in the rear tire, I do think that would have killed most of us.

good to hear from you crispin, glad it wasnt worse (sounds like it could have been). pretty unfortunate that it happened given it was 2am and your whole group knew what was up. guess that's the danger of newbies (the guy that got hit) eh? sounds like you did pick an appropriate time & place after all, but it succumbed to lack of organization. i can't tell u how many times i'v seen a bunch of bikers wheelying in a safe, untrafficed place like that, only to have someone uturn before the end of the strip and get smacked or almost smacked by the next bike coming thru, even in professionally organized meets. kinda leaves u at a loss as to what more u can do.

Glad to hear you and your friends will recover. I was wondering how you were doing.The only gripe I have about the 10 is poor lighting for night riding.(Not really a gripe) I usually ride with my brights on to improve mmy vision.
