As one who has never broken a traffic law, much less do crazy stuff like wheelies, I must condemn Crispin and hereby pass judgement upon him. He must be chastized or even banned from our hallowed ranks!!!

How do you know that it will jack insurance? I ride my 10 hard and I crashed. I am eating all the expense to fix the bike. No insurance claim. Like the other guy said "he was riding the bike the way it was meant to be ridden". If you are happy to ride around @ 45 mph on a 10 just to look cool casue you are on the baddest bike out there...so be it. There are tons of guys out there that like to be on the edge and enjoy the rush it brings. I am sorry about crispin crashing ...but I am sure when he gets his bike fixed he will be right back at it...as will I. It is only money

I hope he does dish it out of his own pocket. I'd feel bad for him if he was wacked by a car. I ride hard on the street and use my head. I save the mental shit for the track days.

I think the concern isn't whether Crispin will be back at it ( I'm certain he will ) but the fact that he took out another rider and the passenger is plain fucked up . I doubt like hell that he'll pay for all of that out of his pocket too , hence the insurance getting involved . I've paid for every crash I've had out of my pocket and yeah it sucks to rebuild a bike that was flawless just a minute ago but as I said before ; where was he looking ? Seriously . I never buy into the "all of a sudden he was there bullshit " . If your going to ride it like it was meant to be ridden then you also have to pay damn close attention to what everybody else is doing too so nobody else gets caught up in the carnage that we all can ( and most of us have )get into . Don't get me wrong , I'm not trying to ruffle feathers but there is no room for error on the street is there ? Heal quick Crispin

Well, that's just too bad.
But as frEEk said, time and place. If you have a 10 and want to stretch it's legs - go do a track day.
I can't ride on the street anymore because I realize I can't control myself. So now I just keep it to the track. Anymore the street gives me the heebie jeebies.
I was kinda tough on Crispin in another thread because he suggested someone lie about a screw up and see if Kawasaki would pay on warranty. Hopefully he'll be honest in his dealings with this wreck.

Speaking of Karma, I wonder what kind of Karma I could expect if I was quick to bitch about someone's wreck possibly raising insurance rates but fail to thank a guy that pays out of pocket for helping to keep rates low? Just curious.

i would give crispin the benefit of the doubt on the insurance question. from what (little) i have read from him, i suspect he'll step up and take care of it out of pocket. he'd be within his rights if he didn't of course, i just get the feeling he's an honourable that would go that extra step. beyond that, i jsut hope all involved heal up quickly (physically and emotionally, potentially important when a pillion is involved), and learns not to make the same mistake again. not much else u can hope for.

Most track events prohibit wheelies. Thus the need for street riding. For those of us in sunny socal, there is also the availability of great roads within a few minutes ride. Hard to pass up when it's hours to the nearest track and hundreds in expense to make that happen. So yes, track days and club racing are great, but I can get it out of my system on the street too. Besides, pissing off the "latte and leather" crowd of posers as we pass them like they were staked to the ground is just too much fun to miss. You should hear them bitch on the local forums.

Real smart to post his antics in plain view on the boards. If the other guy's insurance company or lawyer gets ahold of this information it will be his ass (and his wallet) for sure! Not only was it a stupid move in the first place, but an even more stupid follow up by posting it all over the boards. Be responsible people, especially when you're riding with a group. The last thing anyone needs is for someone who needs to feed their wheelie ego crashing into the back of me when I'm out riding, especially if I'm carrying a passenger.

In other riders company this behaviour is just not on, if I was the victum on the other bike you could expect some serious legal issues heading your way. I think Crispin feels bad enough. Not only for hitting his buddy and passenger, but his bike is phucked as well. I'm sure all you guys would have probably got up and want to pummel him for hitting you. But what you're not thinking of is that it was his FRIEND he hit. Would you then get up to crush him? Think about one of your good friends doing that. What would you do?

Funny how Karma works. Had a neighbor get stupid last year and spout off bout how badass he was, and all the guns he owned, yada yada yada. Other than talking to the cops and letting him know that he was being an ass, I didn't pursue it any further. I just let him pay out some more rope to hang himself with. Last week he got drunk (and stupid) again. Wife called the cops on him, he's in jail with $50K bail till his court date.
So I'm not about to bad mouth Crispin. He's a man for even mentioning it on the board, and I tend to think he'll step up and make it right for all the involved parties, whatever that takes.

I'd check out my bike and then see if he was ok. That's wrong, isn't it? I know what I'll do because I've been hit 5 times. The way we ride it's something you learn to deal with. I'm sure not everyone shares this level of enthusiasm and love of the ragged edge, sliding around on the street, etc. That's why they make VFR's.

Hey whats wrong with VFR's? I had a 1986 VFR that did 0-60mph in 2.4s stock as reported by Cycle Magazine.
