If they are new, round, black and free; I don't care what brand they are .... But besides that....

Just another set of opinions - I have a preference to Bridgestone, Michelin & Dunlop - in that order for street and/or track day tires. For Slicks, I prefer Dunlops.

Unlike some, I really like the 218's that came stock. But tires are completely subjective to how you ride, how confident you feel with the feedback they give you, and how the bike is set-up. You simply can't bolt the tires on, and not change your suspension settings to suit the new radius/profile/flex/air pressures. You've got to work with them. I really don't believe there are night & day differences (on the street) on these tires. Again, provided you work on your set-up.

Example - On some of my favorite roads - I'm faster (ie; more comfortable at speed) on a CBR1000RR on Michelins, than on my 10 with Bridgestones. But yet in "theory", the Honda should not even be close to the 10. On the track, on a bike being equal on all accounts except for the tires, I'm faster on a 636 with Pirellis, than a 636 on Dunlops. Because they are set-up to work with those tires.

All things being equal, a 10 with any of those tires, set-up to work with that brand of tire, will give you good results. I just don't believe there are "bad" tires with the major players.

good point Kerry.....my problem is that I dont know enough of the suspensions and the individual components to be able to tweak the suspension for each tire that I try. My guess is that most people dont know enough to be able to do that. I had my suspension done by a shop in Savannah GA for the Pirelli SC's. I use that set up everyday. and for each set of tires that goes on it. This is prolly why I stick with the Pirellis, and why they feel the best to me on the track and on the street.

Does anyone know of any type of learning material that is out there so help the ignorant such as myself be able to learn this art?

I felt the same way about the 218's before I put the Pilot Powers on my 10. My buddy wanted me to give him my 218 takeoffs which, I initially refused. I put a day on the PP's & called him up & told him to come get the 218's.

Just slapped on the o14's this week, did 270 miles on Saturday in the canyons, and on Palomar. I can only say great things about these tires. They took a tad it longer to warm up, but that could of been from the weather. I paid 230 for the set, love them, show much better wear than the Dunlops and I got 4.5k out of them with some pretty hard riding on them.
