Need Target A/F Ratio Help.............

Anybody know what target A/F ratio the gives the ZX10R the best hp with a race pipe? I'm thinking I f'ed up and let my dyno guy tune my bike for good milage. I should have told him max hp. My current map ratio target is 13.2:1 to midrange, and 13:1 from midrange to redline. I know RC51s are mapped at 12.6:1 for max power with race pipes. I've also heard of a racing team going as rich as 12:1 with the ZX10R. Cars generally make max hp at 12.5:1. I'm thinking I'll go with something between 12.5:1 to 12.8:1. Just trying to get the best target for the ZX10R without wasting time. I have a TiForce full system, and PC3USB. When I remap it, I'll probably add a BMC race filter, and Ivan's TRE.

Actually, you make best hp with the map as lean as possible. Notice I said best hp, not necessarily best power. The reason for going richer is to ward off detonation, and to fatten up the torque curve. Stoch. ratio of 12.8:1 seems to work pretty good for both top end power and a nice fat torque curve.

Nothing wrong with the A/F numbers you listed and you should have a sweet running 10.

I've done probably 500 runs on various RC51's in the 12.8 - 13.5 range with excellent results. Don't know about 12.6 for max power with race pipes. Never heard that one before. But conditions vary and whatever the pump says on a given day and a given bike is whatz best.

12.7-12.9 is a good set of #'s to start with on a High Compresion Engine.

have you found the best a/f ratio for the 10 ?
i tried several 12.8-13.5.
13.4 seems the best for the 10. Am i right ?

Should work fine. I wouldn't say 13.4 is the best. You're going to have some peaks & valleys on the fuel curve, so I'm not sure where you are saying 13.4 is the best. Normally we will look for the smoothest fuel graph between 12.8 - 13.5 on most engines, then look how the peak numbers react to those numbers. Most of the time, we get the best overall power within those numbers.
