datatool revlights

To anybody that has a datatool revlight be warned it is far from waterproof. if you have one or are getting one make sure you silicone all sides except for the front. I had one for three months and it just died from water weeping into the seams. actionstation.com says it not 100% waterproof and they wiil not warranty it. I argued and all they could do is take 30% off a new one. I waiting for a response from datatool!

the answer from datatool;
Hi Jon

Sorry to hear that your rev light has stopped working this could be down to two reasons. First it could be one of the first units whitch where not compleatly resin boned and where subject to water ingress. Second you may just be realy unlucky to have a unit that wasn't sealed correctly whitch is very rare.

What i can do is if you can reaply with your full name, adress and telephone no. i can then send you a new unit free of charge.

I appologise again for the fualt you have experinced. If there are any questions you might have please dont hesitate to contact me.

Best Regards

I was wondering what would happen, and it sounds like they are taking care of you.

Can you explain how you hook it up and where you tapped in to?

Thanks,

Larry

it was easy to install and the instructions were correct with wiring colors.
I tapped into the cluster harness on the left side of the bike. Just above the left T/signal. on the bike harness, ground is black/yellow. power is brown/white. the tach signal is light blue. hardest part was getting the faring off and on.
I'm really glad they admitted a fault with there product. it made the bike user friendly since the LCD tach sucks. I'm wondering how long till it shows up at my door!!

so datatool stood up to the promise and shippped out a new light set.
it works as the other unit except it's molded just like the one that failed!!
you can still get water in to the unit just by getting caught in the rain. if you buy one, silicone the molding holes and seams. then gently slide it into the holder case to not peel the sealer off.
