Poll Question: Need MotoGP camping input IMMEDIATELY!!
We are currently in the midst of discussions with Laguna Seca for securing the top of Fox Hill exclusively for Bikeland.org members for MotoGP in 2005.
We need to know ASAP who would be interested in camping on top of Fox Hill in our area as camping for the event (in total) is expected to sell out by the end of this year. (All hotels have already sold out)
We need serious responses only as this is a more difficult venture for us to organize than the WSBK camping we had set up for members in the past because of the popularity of the event.
I am aware of the fact that many people are already planning on attending and have booked hotel rooms, so please don't clutter up this thread with "oh I'm hoteling it blah blah" (thanks in advance...)
I need some hard #'s and responses from members who would 100% attend and camp with us.
BTW... as other members can attest, Fox Hill and the area we secure (the top of Fox Hill) offers some of the best views of the racetrack and gives a clear view of the majority of it, and is only a short walk to the corkscrew...

I have to stress that this event WILL sell out, and the amount of space we will be given on top of Fox Hill will be determined by input in this thread...
Every year members have played the "wait til the last minute" game and then have decided to attend. This cant and wont happen this year. It will sell out (most likely by mid December!)
We need to act now or risk losing our real estate at the track.

Sorry for forgetting to include that info...
dates are as follows:
quote: The Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) has released the pre-calendar for the 2005 MotoGP World Championship with July 8-10 as the date for the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
Some other important bits of info. Fox Hill is a "motorcycle only" area. You can bring a support vehicle, but you must unload it and park it at the base of the hill. No RV's etc allowed on Fox Hill... just motorcycles.
For those of you who do not know, Laguna Seca Raceway is located on the Monterey Peninsula, just south of San Fran.
We have organized camping for board members in 2001, 2002, 2003... we skipped 2004 (this year) because of the "lack of a "main event" in the eyes of the membership... (read WSBK sucks now). We have had approximately 50 members in attendance each year who have camped, not including those who stay in hotels (sissies!). We would expect many more to attend the MotoGP, but we must know in advance... and we need commitments from members to book well in advance (ie: this fall) ....
there's more red tape involved this time around....
PLEASE INDICATE YER SELECTION IN THE POLE LOCATED AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS THREAD! THANKS!

I'd hazard to say that if we cant come up with 20 commitments we wont get the space and they will give it to another group.

That's exactly what I am working on... but as I said, there's way more red tape this time as it's a guaranteed sell out... I''l announce details once I can get enough people confirmed or else the whole thing will fall through...

Fish,
My wife and I are looking into going. But, this is a big but, she won't want to camp. So, can tickets as part of the group be separate from real estate on Fox Hill?
We've got a gazillion Marriott points to use up - Platinum must be worth SOMETHING, and I think I can shake us (wife and myself) a room free someplace not too far from the action.
So, let me know if the tix can be separated. If not, I guess I get to find out how hard a ticket this will be to get.

At least three of Backmarker's finest will be there. Got the paddock pass, but don't know how many days or "seating arrangements" yet. All I know for sure is that is the team's "travel agent" has us staying on some yacht. Where? Don't have a clue.

I'm 80% but I need some more info, I know this is hard this far out, but do you have a ball park on price? Also how accesible is the real estate you are talking about, and how far is parking from the hill?

How much $$$ ? We are for sure going, but don't know yet if camping or not. I'm about 2.5+ hours from the racetrack so we may/may not decide to camp. The early morning drive isn't too bad...
Do yourself a favor & DON'T stay in Salinas (closer than Monterey.) Last time we stayed there the party'ers kept us up all night...

Hey Swft, how'd ya get the Grandstand seating already? Their website says to wait till October for that?
Does anyone know if I can buy General admission and paddock now and upgrade to Grandstand seating later?
I need to change my answer from half and half to not interested in the camping as my wife won't camp...and my bike will be in Miami
