Sprocket Teeth?
I'am picking up a 520 chain & sprockets for my 10R.
Just looking to get some feedback on different ratios & how they worked for others on the board. Not looking to lose too much up top. any info appreciated.

I dropped one in the front and love it, I'm thinking about going up one in the rear also because I want a little bit more. Dropping one in the front will liven thins up a bit but probably not as much as you are thinking.

+2R should give the quicker accelaration but also maintain the topend your concerned about.

Thanks, I'm gonna go -1 on front. Looking for that little bit more oomph. The only reason I dont want to go up on the rear is, I dont want a few of my riding buddies to know what I'm changing until after I've sampled it out on them. We all run real close. Any advantage to put it on them for a little fun is all good!

Question: Over the winter I plan on having the valves adjusted, thinner head gasket, pcIII, full akra, bmc filter and plan on a tooth down on the rear or do I leave stock? I hate not being able to rip it a 60 in first(front end lifts too easy). Would that make a difference or not and will I loss alot in the other gears? Help me with your wisdom.

zx1kr, I would put the smaller counter shaft sprocket on first because it will make you adjust your rear wheel back further. This will help with the battle of the front wheel comming up too much.

and add stability which can't hurt, however installing a longer chain is the best bet.

BD If you like track days so much I can't see you enjoying your longer bike as it will not turn in so nicely.

Your right Crispin its a dbl edged sword so to speak as the straight line stability is great but transitioning is slowed minimally.
The 10 is the shortest wheelbased liter bike of 04 and perhaps as short if not shorter than all the 600cc class, hence its ability to turn very quick lap times in all of the mag tests , etc, etc. It is also frontend weight biased as delivered so altering the geometry by raising or lowering the tubes or perhaps raising/lowering the rear via shims is a godsend to say the least.
When i installed the longer chain it extended the wheelbase by 19mm over the as delivered setup so as you might imagine its not given me any stability issues to date due in part to the change. I've searched for a pic of T Haydens SS bike that shows the rear axle position much farther back than stock, and for good reason. So all in all the 19mm has truely not hurt the side to side transitioning of it and as long as i can make geometry changes both F&R then i'm not too concerned.
