Whats the best performing pipe?

A buddy of mine is getting ready to buy a pipe for his 10r.

Has anyone tested the available pipes with timing and fuel corrections etc.?

I havent seen any comparisons as of yet, anywhere on the internet.

Hopfully I'll have my TiForce report part 2 up at the end of the week. It will have my stock dyno, TiForce dyno, and optimized PC3 map with TiForce. Here is a link to part one if you didn't see it yet.

Jimmy...Norm Jackson has an Akrapovic on his ZX10ss...Someone hooked him up with a Hindle Step, but it was 2hp down, so he put the Akrapovic back on!!!

Akrapovic, you get what you pay for!!!

sp8, thanks for the info.

Fish, no i was real close to getting one but I just bought an 02 ss convertable.
And I didnt have my wifes 67 ss finished. (still isnt 100% done)
It also needed a new tremec tko-600.
Also the camaro needs a blower and the roll cage isnt in it yet.
So with no time and little funding from the congress for a new bike, I'll have to wait now till 05. Or, if i can stand to wait till 06 and get this 190 hp V5 Honda.

I get seat time on a 10r now. Its like a bratty child, I'd rather spank it and then send it home to its owner. Right Dave.

GZ, now thats drug education!

CR, were both pipes mapped?

Didn't Sport Rider just do a test last month? Of course, all who didn't like the results (ie. their favorite pipe didn't "win") say there was something bogus about the test and those whose pipes did good loved the test. I can't remember what pipe made the most power but the majority were pretty close.

Jimmy...Both pipes were on the dyno with usb Hub PC3r...The Hindle was down 2 hp, but he took it to the DragStrip to see how much different...

Norm wasnt happy, so he took it off and put the Akrapovic back on and the Ak map back in...

All of the pipes tested were slip-ons. All were tested on a R-6. All of them were within 2 hp of each other with the Micron showing the most gain over stock. 109.0 vs. 106.4 stock. In the big picture, out of thirty pipes the spread is a whopping 2% from top to bottom.

I've got the Micron in the black to green fusion color. I'm happy with the fit and finish but that's just my preference. I know there are others who wouldn't use a Micron to pipe sewage.

Oh, the test was on an R6? Well that doesnt mean anything to a zx10r. You cant compare what works well on one engine to another. Its like comparing a Header on a ford engine vs a chevy. The ports, valve sizes, bore and stroke, cams, etc. are totally different.

I was just looking at a titanium Arata pipe tonight that I'm putting on a friends 954 tomorrow night. Nice piece. Its got small primairies and balance tubes between 1-2 and 3-4. A collector like a Sato. A tapered mid pipe. Nice orbital tig welds. We'll see how well it works on a 954.
But again, its doesnt mean that the 10r will respond the same way to an Arata for the 10r.

I think its amaizing that no publications do any conclusive testing of pipes.
Just this brand pipe on this bike and that brand on that bike type thing. Nothing you can draw any real conclusions from.

Y2K....... I have fitted a full EVO2 Akra system race version and this has been tested by the race team as the best pipe, a new version will be released soon that has dimpled internal pipes to breakup the surface adheasion of the exhaust gases ( F1 technology ) and the patents are being tied up now and has some big improvements in exhaust design.

The only other pipe considered was a Leo Vinci race system but has still yet to arrive for testing and at this stage does not match the Akra system for performance. These tests were done with fully setup engines and PC111 usb computer on the dyno VP50 fuel and showed about 23hp rw increase with a much fatter torque curve through the range. Graph not available yet still working on some other bits to get the final setup, I am not privy to the exact final spec as it is an ongoing thing, I only Own the bike! so how should I know. ( very secretive these guys )
