Drove the Rocket 3! Warning...(off topic a bit)

Well I went to my dealer as they wanted me to try out the Rocket 3 (Triumph) 2300 cc .Real dyno run with the "offroad" pipes ( no cats) 133 rear wheel HP and about 145 Ft lbs of torque. Much more than the Vulcan VN 2000! Well.. the thing is big, but alot of fun there. Handles real well for a huge machine, and the brakes are great. Sqealed the front brakes at 80 mph! Sounds real different with those pipes especially!
Breath of fresh air for a change from Harley wannabes and Japanese cruisers. Had a KZ 1300 years ago and kinda reminds me of one of those but way more powerful and better handling!
Might trade my 12 in on it?!?!? But NEVER my beloved 10R!!

Anyone else take one out?

Nope.

Three main problems for me:

1) I am bothered a lot by having feet forward while riding. Just doesn't seem right. A personal idiosyncrasy.

2) The engine is ugly as hell.

3) It obviously is not anything particularly fast, despite all the hype. The 1/4 mile results are in and they are nothing impressive and to say the least don't match Triumph's claim of "faster acceleration than a Hayabusa": 11.27 sec at under 120 mph. No particular improvement over the old KZ1300, BTW, or even over say the V-Rod, and slower than most V-Maxes.

Seems like more hype than anything else to me, but there's nothing wrong with liking the bike out of just liking it, of course. However the claims others are making (you did not) for performance being anything remarkable at all, seem total BS.

This is a strange bike in a strange world............................. no question there trenace. I figure though 1/4 mile times do not do it justice as it is about 150 lbs heavier than the old 1300 and the torque is an addicting thing even though it's heavy, but no question it is interestingly fun though! But beating a Hayabusa or 10 or 12 gimmi a break!! I don't know who was driving them (musta been a Harley rider) I'll tell ya 1 thing though, the Vulcan 2000 does'nt come close to the pull /fun factor on this thing. i am looking for a cruiser type bike and not sure what yet?!?!

I could see where big HP is a lot of fun, but if the bike is just too heavy to pull it quicky then what's the use?

It's just really, really, big.

That's what guys riding it will want to be able to say - that's they have the biggest. Not the fastest.

Think I'd rather have a V-Max, though. Get an old on for next to nothing and lookout!

I'm just gonna get the big block Boss Hoss and be the Torque King. Who else can pull their 14' camper behind their bike?

It'd like driving a dump truck...Big, lots of power, lots of noise and you have plenty of time to jump and down on the seat and blow the horn as you go 'whoo-hoo, look at me, I'm driving just like the big boys' as you slowly creep along, pavement groaning under the enormous mass of your vehicle.
