Had my new rim installed tuesday. On the ride home noticed the bike still had a small shimmy in the bars. Got home and measured the front rim runout was 8 thou. Seems a little high for a brand new rim. Anybody else notice this with their new rim. Anyone have any idea on that? Manual says 20 is max runout. My old rim was badly warped 55 thou. runout.

What do you mean by runout? How do you measure it?

Runout is the amount of bend or warpage in a rim. It is measure with a dial gauge placed against the edge of the rim. It measures in thousands of an inch.

Got mine this morning. My dealer (Yam-Suz-Kaw of Canton, GA) was great, in that their G.M. had a 10R, but as their first buyer, I got dibs on their one replacement wheel. Damn good customer service.

had mine replaced today! dealer said a bad head shake would cause the old wheel to develop the run out problem. Kind of interesting!
