Well, Who Are the Lucky Ones?

According to the official recall notice above(thanks Fish-Antlers)not all USA 10s are being recalled. I went to the Kawi site, but don't believe their website has been updated yet.Fingers crossed.

Mine shows the recall to be in effect.

Oddly enough the Kawasaki site mentions no recalls in their recall section???

Guys, If you read the above recall notice closely (the second one posted by Fish-Antlers), it appears that Kawi USA will be updating their website with further info. Right now their website is showing all ZX10s needing a new front wheel when you punch in your VIN #. But it also did that on Saturday, as I found out. The latest info posted today seems to indicate that Kawi USA has isolated certain units that require recall, and that the info should be forthcoming via their website, or call your dealer. Not trying to create a big issue, just looks like things may have changed. Plus I am too farking lazy to bring my front wheel the 90 miles from Boston to NH where I bought the bike.

What do I do? I had a new wheel put on(under warranty), on the 20th July after finding my old one was bent. Even if my bike comes up in the database it's not the original wheel. How do I know if the new one is OK?

Kawasaki sent my new wheel out to the dealer on the 16th July. The dealer suspected something was wrong with the front wheels from the diuscussion they had with Kawasaki. With this in mind I have to believe Kawi will have sent out one that has been checked and is OK.

Does anyone know what the exact VIN#s are? It would be a lot easier to just look on the bikes VIN and know your ok.

Out of the blue I get a call from dealer, they said the new one that was installed 2 weeks ago still needs to be replaced. They also said I would be the first one they did and they're hoping everything should be in by the end of the week.

LOL yeah my dealer will recive a rentgen or some other sort of testin device to conclude my wheel is ok or not. Or they will shift em all back to Japan and someones will be given used wheels.
I think they produce around 19000 zx10r round world and every single wheel will be replaced. They will later do a check as how many were defect.

oK,

Just called Kawasaki directly and the lady on the phone says here computer shows VIN's up to 17,303. This should be just about everyone out there who will need a wheel replacement.

Just talked to kawi and they told me anyone with 17303 or UNDER is affected! If you are over 17303 on your VIN you are okay!

Damn...Im 3366.........

Thake the bike where you bought it. They are in the process now of sending the dealers the number of wheels that match the number of units sold AUTOMATICALLY!

man... I just looove calling my dealership and informing them of a recall on my bike. They wanted me to bring it in right this instant, so I ask them if they have the replacement wheel..... of course not! they had no idea about the recall, and they have no idea when they'll have the wheels. fun...
