I've had a somewhat similiar exp. on my 10R. When just cruising around in top gear, sometimes she doesn't like to go down into 5th. It seems like it takes a LOT of effort on the lever to go down a gear. Once I'm down to 5th, the rest of the downshifts are fine, it's just that 6th to 5th, like edge said, feels like the plates are sticking together a little. Also, on the upshift side of things, it's pretty smooth except for my 3-4th transition, I put a little tension on the shifter, pull in the clutch(sometimes) and make the shift. Sometimes she goes right into 4th no prob, but usually it 'feels' like it went into 4th, and if I keep pressure on the shifter, it'll move a little further up and really 'click' (not clunk, click, the way it should) into gear. Strange feeling and I only notice it on the 3-4th gearchange. Like the shift drum rolls to engage 4th, and then after 4th is in, the drum rolls just a little tiny bit more. Wierd feeling. Anybody else?
BTW, I've never missed a gear going up or down, and no false neutrals, just the effort to go from 6th-5th, and the strange feeling occasionally going from 3rd-4th. All in all, she's been a really good girl so far, except that she's got a John Candy sized appetite for rear tires :-)

I know this sounds silly, but is this when u are moving or sitting still? Not having ridden a 10, i can only share what knowledge I have with you. I ride a R1 as my main bike, (I also Have a ZXR750), The R1 has a klunky box and if you are trying to change down from say 3-4 down to 1st when sitting at lights, it just will not do it, U have to let the clutch out a little bit between gears. This is normal. How ever if its happening on the move, well thats a diferent thing, do u blip the throttle between down shifts? have you tried down shifting at different engine speeds? or clutchless down shifts to rule out the clutch?
Oh yeah, the 3 guys i ride with have 10-rs.

I can downshift without the clutch if there is no load on the trans. The problem is with downshifting under decelleration at around 6k rpm, particularly the 3-2 change. I'll check the clutch plates when my back-ordered clutch cover gasket shows up.

I notice that all my shifting problems are when the bike is over 200 degrees. Below that, it shifts perfectly. This bike hates traffic.
