Speedohealer calculations?

On the ZX-10R ;using the speedohealer on line calculator I selected factory speedometer error at 7.7 % per-cent. (for estimated )

Question:

What is an average error for odometer if anyone knows??



So far:

I have used zero per-cent and tried with 7.7 per-cent for input data of estimated odometer error ; not sure what would be correct actually.

It makes a little difference on the resulting calibration value computed (which is stored in speedohealer unit). -19 % vs -18.8 %.

I went from 17 front to 15 and am using standard factory size 190 rear.

went 16T in front.
I use total correction 13.5%.
I can't say if it's very accurate as I haven't done any tests yet.
Road policemans don't care much about speeding riders in Latvia. Cagers is absolutely different case.

stock gearing for me, did the odo test method, set -5.4%, has'nt been verified but would think this is pretty close to it.Tyre setting on 2.

salsa disregard the ODO % and set it for speedo % as thats what we use right?
My setup is a 16t with a 180/55.
calculated @ -11%

This was set for the speedo calculations, not for the odo. It was however set using the odo method.

16. What is the "Speedo-to-Odo error ratio"?
There is one speed signal which drives both the speedometer and the odometer.
However, the manufacturers make the display units such a way that the speedometers usually read high, while the odometers are quite accurate on stock vehicles.
Speedo to odo error ratio is the quotient of the indicated speed, and the speed which drives the odometer internally.
This error ratio is fixed in the dashboard logic, i.e. it's bike model specific and will be constant no matter what you change on your bike.
The speedo to odo error ratio is almost the same as the initial (factory) speedo error, considering that the odometers are usually accurate on stock vehicles.

17. How can I determine the factory speedo-to-odo error ratio on my motorcycle?
You can easily measure this with your SH:
- Switch the SH into test mode (#1 ON, the rest: OFF)
- Turn on the ignition and the RUN switch
- Press the SH's button several times until you get a high reading on your speedometer (e.g. 258 km/h)
- Start a stopper watch and reset the tripmeter at the SAME time
- Stop the stopper watch at a given distance on the tripmeter (e.g. 20.0 km)
- Turn off the ignition and set the SH into normal mode (all switches in OFF position)
Now, you have the following data:
- Indicated speed on the speedometer
- The measured distance versus time
Based on these data, you can calculate the "speed by odo" value, then you can compare the speed indicated by the speedometer and the speed which drived the odometer.

Formulas:
- Speed by odo = Distance / Time * 3600
- Error ratio = Indicated Speed / Speed by odo

In this case:
- Indicated speed = 258 km/h
- Speed by odo = 20.0 km / 293 sec * 3600 = 245.73 km/h
- Error ratio = 258 / 245.73 = 1.0499 --> +5.0 %
As you can see, the speedo to odo error ratio is +5.0% for this bike (CBR954RR).
It means that if the odometer was 100% accurate on a stock bike, then the initial (factory) speedo error would be +5.0%

Thanks for responses ; . I set speedo healer according to my hand calculator using stock rpm/mph relationship and adjusting for front sprocket gear ratio change; (101 mph=13,000 rpm for reference which I get every time) seems more accurate.

field test/verification using mile markers is what I have to do to finish ; speedohealer on-line calculations don't seem near as accurate as I want. Tried it and seems unrealistic; was way off.

Another Question : Anyone have reason to believe tachometer on ZX-10R is NOT very accurate??

After setting mine for 8%, I put the bike on a dyno and measured true wheel speed. Was dead on at 60mph.
