AGAIN Thinner Head gasket

Alright fellas, who has put it on? I've started this thread a long time ago and all I get is some bullshit. Has anyone else put it on and was it worth it? Is remapping needed? Dyno charts????

It will raise your compression about .5 to .75 of a point. That can't hurt, and should be measureable as well as be felt S.O.P. Mapping would be a good idea, to take full advantage depending on what gas you are running.

Doug, can you run the thinner gasket and still use pump gas?

Thanks Doug! Interested in Hells Dark Lord question as well. I was told that pump gas is fine with the thinner head gasket but don't know for sure....

With the thinner head gasket, add'l .010 off the head & a little simple clean up and degree'd cams...Using ultimate 4, TiForce, and a usb...175.5 HP to the rear tire uncorrected. My 2 cents...LPS

Whats to clean up? The ports look pretty darn good already! Thanks for the numbers, thats pretty impressive. Did you take .010 off evenly, or angle cut?

that is what I want from my 10....my goal is 175 at the tire.....and i dont want to change the bore or strokle...I will go to the thinner head gasket, adn a PCIIIUSB, I have looked at the Ti Force, and the Akro...also the Micron...I will prolly go with Micron just because I can get them cheap, and pu t the rest of the money towords other mods.....and they make pretty good HP....I was getting 110 HP at the tire on my 03 ZX6RR with the Micron and K&N filters only....

10r..You are Right...The ports are great. In my opinion, The 10r is starting in a spot where there is little to improve without changing the bore and/or stroke. The clearances are alot closer than that of the gix 1k. I had the exhaust cleaned(Slightly opened and smoothed) and the cams degreed to gain the add'l 11 horsepower. My bike on 93 pump gas was 148.1...I then added the TiForce, usb, and some ultimate 4 and that moved the HP to 164. The headwork and cams degree'd move the hp up in the 175 area. This was not just bolt up and go...This also included several pulls on the dyno to get it right. With a 200lb suited rider, the bike runs consistant 9.50's and has been in the 9.40. These numbers are with crappy 60ft times also. The mph is generally...148 to 150. This is my wifes bike, so she rides it on the road and I dont do any of the supersport tune up tricks(Bearings, brakes, etc)..Hope this helps...My 2 cents...LPS

Thanks for the elaboration on cleanup. What numbers did you use for the cams?

I had a friend of mine degree the cams...He fliped the cam sprocket around and dialed them in. He changed it a couple of times...Im not really sure of the final #'s...Hopefully over the winter time someone will come up with a set of aftermarket cams and other goodies to set the Kaw up another little bit...Now since Im at 175 Horses....I want 180's+++...Im greedy!! Well, go get your friend, I'd love to know what numbers he used. And he flipped over the cam sprockets? I'll have to go look at them again.

Well I have had the thin head gasket on for a couple of weeks now and it takes some time to really tell if it was worth it. I think the map that Rob hughes supplied with the Ti force without the thin head gasket works fine. I do like the thin head gasket it makes more low in power and more mid range grunt. I haven't dynoed it after yet but I would think maybe a good five ligit hp's were made. This bike is a wild ride. It should be after all the damn money thrown down on it. My advice for people wanting to install the gasket.. Get a professional to do it! And make sure you have a set install price. The book calls for 5.1 hours and if they can do it in that time they are damn good and have done it before....
