Any Tranny Problems? No ZX-10R in 2005?

Twice this weekend I ran into Gixxer owners who said they had friends who had tranny failures on their zx-10rs'. On top of that both said they had heard that Kawasaki will not continue the 10R in "05". I keep up on all the mags & other than the pre-production false neutral between 3rd & 4th I have never seen anything to substantiate either of these claims. Maybe just some bruised Gixxer Egos.

Lots of issues with downshifting. There may be a serious flaw in the tranny. It'll be back in 05 though.

You are experiencing that with your 10? I have about 2200 miles on mine right now, I'am blown away with how this bike downshifts. I hope that there isn't a problem. I would hate to lose confidence in this tranny. I haven't even missed a gear yet! That slipper clutch let me drop 2 or 3 gears hard w/o even a wimper.

Uh.... zx1kr..... I cant remember a report of a single tranny failure on this site and this is the largest ZX-10R owners group in the world (currently).... as for your friends claim that the bike wont be back in 05.. ...

well.... let's just say perhaps your friends should pass the bong... they've had more than enough

bovine.... "There may be a serious flaw in the tranny" ... really? like what?

I ride mine alot and have only 1400 miles on it.

I bought mine the first week that they came out as well.

More power to you!

The only tranny problems I've had is most likely me. You see ,when shifting into 2 gear and snapping the clutch while pinning the throtle the bike lays out 479 feet of long rubber marks. Yea the tire was cold but still cool. real crowd pleaser.

Yep - commute 26 miles daily and hit some canyon area almost every weekend.

Got it 4/2/04 and have had no problems with it at all - it's on it's fourth oil and filter and will see the stealership in a couple weeks for it's 7500 service ( I will likely do the oil and filter/check+gap sparkplugs myself and have them give it a once over and synch carbs for me).

Swingarm fluid leaks[at transmission connection[U-joint]] on nearly all ZX10's;see previous post.Huge problem.
Recall forthcoming I'm sure: ride at your own risk.
Tranny is way too scarry-urgent recall needed. Ride at your own risk.
The Factory/Dealer/Salesman is negligent for not telling me.We know they knew about it.
If the Factory doesn't offer PTSD counseling, after riding, what should we do?
This never happened on either ZX12,or my gentler[slower] Hayabusa.
Cannot sleep, and I have recurring nightmares, usually about losing my tuck, since I pinned the throttle and shifted 5 times.Especially the 1st, 4th and 5th shifts.
The pipe makers are liable also because they make it much more scary. So all the pipes need to be recalled.
Cannot work.Same reasons.
Irritibility,quick tempered.Nervousness.Nerve damage probably.
LOL
