Any of you been to Lone Star Track Days in TX

I found a website for Lone Star Track Days in Texas lonestartrackdays.com/html/index2.html.The Tracks are in College Station and Cresson.Just a few hours from me. I've never been to any track days but it sounds like it would be fun and a learning experience.A friend and I are thinking about going.Has any of you guys been there or are you planning to go ? I havent set my date as of yet.

I'm planning on being at Cresson on Oct. 4, that will be my first Lonestar Trackday experience.

We run LSTD events for practice at TWS & Motorsports Ranch all the time. They put on a quality event and are very professional and have good instructors. It is well staffed with emergency services and cornerworkers. Pete Martins from South Central Race Center is almost always there to provide Dunlop & Bridgestone tire sales & service - you can get better deals on race tires there at the track than from most local dealers.

Don't hesitate to sign up if you decide to go - they usually sell out several weeks before the event.

Ice 1, are you going to be at Cresson on 8/28-29 or 10/9-10?

Redelk -

We will probably make the October weekend. They are running the "normal" direction that weekend, right? Not too fond of running Cresson backwards. Good luck on the next endurance race - sounds like you are getting it figured out.

I'll most likely be doing the Aug 23 LSTD at Cresson in preparation for the CMRA races there the following weekend.

ice- what don't you like about running MSR clockwise?

There are so many cars that run MSR counterclockwise, and they put a lot of stress on the pavement in the braking zones which makes it real bumpy.

So when you go the opposite direction, this makes it a lot harder to be smooth getting on the throttle coming out of the turns with all the bumps on the exit. But it's not so bad on a YSR

Cresson is a nice track especially for fraidy cats like me! There's pretty much nothing to run into which was great for peace of mind. That's where I've done my only trackday and I can't tell you how much I learned from it. I actually got to push my bike to it's limits around a corner. I'm way to chicken to even think about doing that on the road.

Amen to that. Track days are a much easier way to learn how to ride the corners. There are way too many variables out in the real world to push very hard. Just try to keep your excitement under control and you will go faster than you have ever gone before in your whole life. And it's legal...

Why does Cresson have track days on Monday instead of the weekend ?
I will most likely set my date for a weekend,so most likely will be at TWS.Possibly two days at the end of October

My understanding is that the track is a lot cheaper to rent during the week.

Also, many of the bike shops are closed on Mondays and I have been told that a fairly high percentage of the riders at track days, work in bike shops.

If you check out the Motorsport Ranch website it mentions somewhere that the track is reserved on the weekends to members that pay 12 grand a year.
