BIKE DOWN DUE TO BACKORDER!!!!!!!!!!!!

So i heard a rattle in the exhaust can one day and didn't have time to take it to the shop. out riding one night at 2am and the bike won't make power over 5k. took it to the shop the next day and they said something inside broke and was restricting it. they ordered a new muffler but the mother F*@#*% is on back order. There is good news though.... once they are made , believe it or not there going to ship them here so i can get one and ride my bike again. ETA between now and the end of eternity. The bike has been down for 8 days and counting. anybody else had this rattle in their exhaust?

u might see if they would be interested in replacing your can with an aftermarket one instead of the OEM can. i have my front rotors replaced under warranty once and because the EBCs were cheaper than the stockers and were available, they were happy to put those on instead. i'm not sure if Kaw US works the same way, but worth a shot.

Are they positive it's the muffler? Sounds more like the exhaust powervalve may be getting hung up.

JNM im with you. It sounds like valve. Take the can off and go for a ride see if it makes power. A short ride will not hurt it. If it does you found your problem. If it doesnt it is probably the valve. Good luck

dont expect the bike to run perfect without the can tho. that tiny addition of a can to ur pipes makes the difference between a smooth idle and lumpy like a top fuel bike. u'll have to get it into the higher revs to feel it out more. oh, and u wont liekly be able to hear shit.

besides, cant they just pull the can off and look down the center to see if there's anything blocking it? give it a shake see if it rattles. sounds to me like ur dealer couldnt diagnose their way out of a wet paper bag.

Same thing happend to me. I was riding one night and my bike wouldn't go over 20mph. I made it home and couldn't figure out was wrong. I checked the exhaust and there was no pressure coming out of the muffler. I took the muffler off and the bike still ran bad, it had fouled out the spark plugs. I ran a compression test and replaced the spark plugs, started the bike up without the muffler and it ran great. I purchased a Muzzy slip on through Ivan's Rockland. He gave me a great deal. I paid under $480 and had it in 2 days. Ivan is a really cool guy and ZX10R of his own that he is constantly trying upgrades to. Give him a call and he can tell you what has worked for him. Here is his website. www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/r1.htm
