muzzy titanium slip-on powercommander map?
Just got my slip-on and powercommander from muzzy today. I installed them both and went out to ride. Don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but the map that muzzy sent with it (MZ ZX10SL) does not seem to be the right one at all. It has a huge power loss at 2k-3k range. I know this sounds normal for some slip-ons but also around 4k rpm part throttle cruising it breaks up really bad. It seems almost too bad to ride!!! Just wanted to get some feedback from you guys since I know some of you have ventured into this before. Also does anybody have Curt Dorn's email address at Muzzys, I think he has some other maps but I lost it. Thanks in advance

Make sure you have the updated utility from Powercommander...it's on the site. I have a custom map...my bike is a Cali model though. Also, I highly recommend getting a custom map specifically for your bike...

I have a map that I got from a guy off of another board. He said Muzzy sent it directly to him. If you would like, I can email it to you for you to try. Let me know.

I agree with guamaniac. Make sure you have the updated PCIII software. Not the map itself, but the PCIII software itself. Makes a big difference and eliminates a rich running condition. It's downloadable off the powercommander.com website.

Do you mean download the software onto my computer from the website and then download the map that came pre-installed from muzzys from the powercommander to my computer with newly updated software and then try sending it to the powercommander again?

No. I mean if you go to www.powercommander.com and search for Application for ZX-10R, it will bring up all the various maps available for our bikes. If you look at the lower right corner of the page, it lists a link to "Utility Update". Click on that link, which will bring you to page that lists a utility update for the ZX-10R.
The description they give for the update is: "This utility corrects a poor idle and low speed running condition that exists on some ZX10R and Vulcan 2000 Power Commander USB's. Run if your bike exhibits the above symptoms. Running this utility on a bike that is not affected will not cause a problem."
This software update has nothing to do with the particular "Map" that you are using. It is an update to the basic PCIII software that runs the map for you. And it will make a difference. I've installed and run it for a while now, and others have had the same experience.
Hope this helps.

thanks canyoncarver, I tried those things and I am still having the same problems. I downloaded all the maps from powerecommander.com and compared them with the muzzy map that is in there now and it seems to me that the muzzy map is quite a bit leaner than the rest of the maps that the pc came up with for the other slip on systems. Maybe I might be reading the map wrong but I don't think so. I am thinking of trying one of the other maps that pc has to see if it helps. I just don't want to do any harm to my engine. I will get a custom map made as soon as the holiday passes but until then if anyone else has anymore ideas or maps that they have custom made for their 10's I would greatly appreciate it.

Just for confirmation sake...Did you install the utility update? Here was my scenario... Received PCIII, got the muzzy map from a board member who got it from Muzzy--bike ran like crap. Installed the Utility Update--bike ran better but was still bogging down in the low rpms--hesitation all that stuff. Had a custom map done and all is good now. Like I said before if you want to try my custom map PM me or email me or give me your info. It's a custom map for a Muzzy Slip-on.... It should get you close.
