A better question in my mind is 'where does velocity stack use reduce power?' Like, say, 4000-8000 RPM?
Would like to know more before throwing out a peak number of 6HP...

Here's the deal: I have inside access to some Genuine Kawasaki short velocity stacks. These are part of a top secret racing program known only to myself and a few of the top tuners. The factory guys on this board are clueless on this so don't listen to their whining bullshit. Other tuners will be selling these for $90 or more. I, as a special favor to my forum buddies, will sell you the set (you only need 2, the other 2 are already on the bike, that's one of the reasons they are so fast right out of the box) for only $50. Or you could go to your local dealer and buy them for about $25, but then you won't get the special insider top tuner magic with them. Order direct from my website http://www.unobtainium.com

That's where the insider top tuner magic comes in. Shipping and handling is good for at least 4 hp.

Velocity stack = no air filters correct? If so then who would want them (except for maybe a high dollar drag race team)??????

The VS do not eliminate the air filter.

I see. I guess I was remembering back in the 70's when people would drop their air box and put on individual filters, but some would run straight intakes, no filters. Different terminology I guess.

Well, I think they're meant to live inside the airfilter's clean space. What they do, I believe, is alter the resonant frequency of the intake tract, to provide a pressure node at the valve intake at particular RPM. Some will tell you they smooth the turbulent flow, give the air rushing in a little longer path to 'straighten out' in. Someone else may have more to say on the subject, so don't take me as any kind of authority.
I'd not bet against KMC's design on this one, though. I bet, like I posted above, you'd lose power everywhere but one small area of the powerband.

Adding velocity stacks won't change the resonant frequency of the airbox. To do that, the volume of the box would have to change. Velocity stacks change the length (and volume) of the intake tract, and this changes the shape of the power curve. They also smooth the airflow into the opening of the ports.

Spoke with Graves Motorsports and they state that the velocity stacks are still in development. No date of production as of yet.

let's see.... first it was the "high compression head gasket"..... then, the "fully adjustable ECU"..... now, velocity stacks? what's next... the "ultra low resistance race spark plug wires"? Good for 2 horsepower....
