I think it's ok; so long as the mechanic observes proper break-in rpm.

I work at a kawasaki dealership and we would never treat a customers bike like that. I would be just as pissed as that guy was if it happened to my bike. Then on top of everything else the gm is a total asshole. If they did that to my bike I would ask if I could borrow the gm's bike to see of it was ok for me to do the same to his bike.
